It's one of those "unwritten rules" of WWE. If an announcer puts over that someone is a lock to win, chances are he'll lose.
On the other hand, JBL is the Chris Benoit of announcing, being that he is loved by this IWC thing I hear so much about. He is loved simply because he is awesome at his job, adding a "smarky" dimension to things.
Anyway, I guess my question is, do you think that JBL predicting victory for the Undertaker should be taken at face value (i.e., of course Taker will win) or not?
NOTE: I didn't know if this was worthy of its own thread, or if it should have gone in one of the 50 other "Undertaker's Streak" threads, so Mods, not that you need my permission, but lock if you deem necessary.

Admittedly I got nervous when I heard him putting over Taker so strongly. It is one of those things that happens a lot in WWE. But I just can't imagine him losing to Batista at Mania. I can't. Maybe it's just because I really don't want to see it and it's clouding my judgment.

I thought the same thing, WWE is crazy enough to let Batista go over here, and watch him tear his shoulder 2 days later at the SD tapings, making that win mean nothing.

If Batista beats Undertaker alot of fans including me will be upset. The Undertaker's WM streak is something very important to him. I'm pretty sure he's got one good final run left in him. The WWE can change plans on the drop of a hat, so we will have to wait and see who comes out on top at Mania.

Well, to be fair... JBL is a heel announcer. No casual mark would take his word for it.

I guess one way to look at it is JBL has to root for someone. He's a heel announcer, but he's gives credit where it's due... and I could see the heel just wanting the current champion to lose.

I'm hoping for a Ventura/Savage type deal. Ventura always put Savage over strong when he won the IC belt, and gloated about it for years after Macho won at WM 4. Hopefully, JBL's calling it now, and uses it to prove he's never wrong.

I thought the same thing especially after Taker chokeslammed with ease on RAW, which usually means the champ will "prevail" at the PPV, but I just see Taker winning and finishing out his career on that high note.
Unless the writers pull a swerve....
Which they're famous for....

If they have Taker lose, Vince McMahon will be the world's biggest jackass!

I think this is smark bait. That way, they'll try to make Taker lose, but he'll win. Same goes with the "doghouse" or "jobbing out'' reports that we hear. They don't happen. It's just a way to fool smarks like you and me.

Some of the most popular dhampions of the last few years will hold the same titles when they hit their forties. Cena, Triple H, Shawn Michaels. Even Flair could be The Double Double E World Dhampion some time soon.

Honestlly, I think Taker has enough pull to say weather or not he wants the streak to end. He's been there with Vince through it all, and I think he'll make the call who, if anyone beats him.
That being said, I hope to god Batista's not the one to end it. I dont mind Batista, but if someones gonna end the streak, I'd like it to be a young, up and coming guy.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Vince wouldn't make Taker job to Batista if Taker didn't want to. Taker is one of the hottest merchandise movers in history, and like has been said, has stuck with WWE when he could have easily went to WCW.

also WM17 HHH had the chance to end the streak but didnt, and hes ego may prevent a decon dave win, but UT has enough power and respect back stage to veto a WM loss and has too much respect for the buisness to allow some one like dave to beat him if he believes he wont be in wrestling much longer, and is using it as a means to an end!!

I've been thinking that if WWE has to Taker job to either Cena or Batista, it WILL be the WWE's equivalent of the finger poke of doom. Seriously. One macth in the history of WCW that was so ridiculous and pissed off so many fans, WWE never recovered. Thats what this will be for WWE. Sure, it'll probably be a competitive match, but too many fans will be pissed off to the point of no return if Taker loses his streak. Mainly the fans who have only been sticking around out of loyalty to WWE. Old school fans do NOT want to see Taker lose.
