Wow! I forgot that Tommy Dreamer had such a babyface back than. People actually hated him because of that because they thought he wasn't hardcore. Well he showed them didn't he.

Long way from the green suspenders and that damn feathered collar jacket he wore in his initial promo, that's for damn sure. Best part was, it didn't matter how late it was when ECW finally came on (or what day for that matter), when you heard that music hit, you knew there would be a little bit of everything on the show.

Man...every Wenesday, 3 A.M channel 27... ...I wasnt there Im just j/k... Only got to see it on TNN... LOL. Timeslot, we don't need no stinking timeslot. One week we'd get it on Friday at 2, then neWext week it'd be Sunday at 3:15 AM, then like Wednesday morning at 4 am the next, it was insane. Weird as it may sound, I think that was part of the bond some of us had. When they'd do tours of Florida (usualy the Tampa area) when I was in college we'd get together and go, and the TV show was part of it. Lots of "dude, I stayed up til 4, and had to take an exam at 7:15, but it was worth it".

Ha! Yeah i remember that! It's funny today the ones most people would consider hardcore now weren't when they started and Dreamer is a perfect example. Does anyone remember the surfer version of Sandman? He wore this surfer gear and brought a Surfboard down to the ring. Man that was funny and soon after Paul Heyman took over he became a cursing beer drinking, singapore can swinging hardcore wrestler. Really funny if you think about it.

Yes, I remember Sandman in the wetsuit he wore for a (thankfully) very short period. It also teaches us a lesson, Sandman from the surfer days was on the juice, Sandman with beer and cane was not. That, kiddies, is what happens when you do lots of gas, and then go off completely.
Still glad he changed the gimmick though.

The fact that anyone who watched it was f***ing dedicated. My friends and I would stay up playing video games or something until it came on, and then we would mark out like we did when we were kids watching Hogan in the 80s.

I started watching when ECW came onto TNN. The only way I heard of it before was because it was that "crazy fed that set people on fire" but what I saw on TNN blew me away.....then I did research to the early ECW and found VHS's......sweetness....nirvana.....rad

Yea I definitely remember stumbling through the door, inebriated on Saturday nights and turning on ECW, though it wasn't on MSG where I lived. I believe it started at 2:30 am (Sunday morning technically) and was on a channel somewhere in the 40's.
good times, long ago.

It was on at 3AM for me. Just getting the internet and hearing good things about ECW, I tried staying up to watch it for over a month. I was only about 11 years old and couldn't pull it off. Finally I set my alarm to 3AM and awoke to a pissed off Taz giving a promo. It was the one single time I was frightened by a wrestler...
