AWA could really be something if they had someone who could focus the product more. Someone like Heyman would have done wonders for AWA. But WWE now this so they will keep under contract because of that reason. They are a little on the shady side but the promotion has untapped potential that if someone creative would come it could compete with the WWE.

Technically, once a promotion reaches the global level, they are competing with the WWE. In fact, technically, all wrestling is competing with the WWE. Just not directly.

Technically, once a promotion reaches the global level, they are competing with the WWE. In fact, technically, all wrestling is competing with the WWE. Just not directly. Well look at ECW, before Heyman came on board it was total utter mess. They had potential as does AWA have as well. Once Heyman came to ECW it went from being a crappy NWA territory to a wrestling promotion that was number 3 in America, and not the way ROH is number three, really being an important brand. AWA could do this if they had someone who was creative and could do inventive booking, because they have some talented guys on the roster. It's all about smart booking look at Shane Douglas in ECW and Shane Douglas ever where else. So thats my point and maybe they can't compete with WWE, fine they sure the hell could compete with TNA! Plus I'm just playing devil's advocate. I'm not saying that AWA will become something, I'm just saying it could.

Its just that the way you said "compete with the WWE", well you made it sound so easy. You know throw a couple of wrestlers together, get a good creative mind, add a name(AWA) that was relevant 20 years ago and Waaalah! You have a multimillion dollar wrestling company. Its very hard to make a buck in this business. If the WWE didn't have the DVD's and international tours right now, they might be in the red.
