Children vs. Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania 23 - book it. Those children weighed 12,000 pounds, brother!

Do kids still like the Warrior?
Come to think of it, what's their stance on Uncle Elmer?

Dad: Wrestling huh? Back in my day, they had this wrestler called Hulk Hogan. Could easily beat any of these newer wrestlers. Son: NONSENSE! Daughter: Who else can you remember? Dad: Well.... umm.... There was this canadian guy called.... Bert Hurt? Oh and Randal Salvage. And there was probably some other guys too, but my memory's shot. BUT HULK HOGAN IS! A! LEGEND! =D

Well i won't mind my kid liking Hogan for the first few years of his life but when he's old he must know the truth. And must worship at the altar of Chris Benoit otherwise he's outta here!!

If I find out my kid's watching wrestling, I'm gonna sit him down, and we're gonna have a looooong talk...
That doesn't sound right...

I actually like Hogan more now than I did as a kid. I'm not a fan of his, but I can respect that he's both the biggest face and biggest heel the sport has ever seen. As a kid I despised him because I was a Dungeon of Doom mark. As for why kids like him, he's just naturally kid friendly. Those same kids weren't around to see Hacksaw Jim Duggan either, but since neither of thse guys used what little wrestling ability they have to get over, they can just do what they've always done, and it seems fresh to a new audience.

He's just.......Hulk Hogan! Really, it's hard to describe it beyond that as his popularity isn't due to one thing. Even the opening bars of his music during a surprise entrance is enough to make most of the ardent anti-Hogan smarks feel like 7 years old just for a few seconds.
He also plays to the crowd, he doesn't go out there with his head down and get on with it, EVERYTHING he does is to get a reaction and to get the crowd involved at every stage. You simply do not see a Hogan match in WWE with the crowd sitting on their hands because he makes them CARE about what he does, every punch, every test of strength, every beat down and ever sideways glance at them. Nobody else has that, there are things that Hogan doesn't have that others have such as wrestling ability but nobody not Austin not Flair not Piper not Undertaker not Bret not Rock and not HHH has what Hogan has and at the end of the day it's that ability to make a crowd not only like him and not only love him but idolise him and it's the same with kids now as it was 20 years ago. You simply don't lose that evidently.

I started watching right when he left WWF and I never really liked the guy. Maybe for like a year or two I think he was alright but that was just because everyone else did. Then I realized techinical skills and better matches were more important. NO THERE NOT! Technical skills aren't that important or else Benoit would be carrying the company.... Charisma..... that IT factor is more important.... not a bunch of ROH guys who have no personality!

Charisma is indeed a very important factor in making a great professional wrestler, but one cannot get by on charisma alone.

Oh god, you're going to bring HIM in to this thread soon You called? Even when I'm offline you guys talk about me. WOW! I must be having a bigger impact on this site than I thought. You guys really like me. ;D The reason so many children love HOLLYWOOD HULK HOGAN is because kids are not conspiracy minded. They don't spend all of their time trying to uncover conspiracies and point fingers the way teenagers do. Teens for some reason get a rush out of blaming someone. I guess it comes from getting in so much trouble and saying "I didn't do it." and "Really it was so and so's fault." all the time. Teens love to blame other people for their problems. And that's all it comes down to. When their favorite isn't getting the push they want or even worse if they are getting the push but just not getting over. Instead of admitting that maybe this guy isn't as great as they want him to be, they look to blaim someone else. HOLLYWOOD HULK HOGAN -- being the most visable pro wrestler of all time -- usually gets blaimed. But it means nothing. The follow up to this is that as people get older and start seeing the way the world really works, they begin to love HOLLYWOOD HULK HOGAN again as they realize what he has done for the sport that we love. So it's not so much "Why do kids love HOLLYWOOD HULK HOGAN?", as it is, "Why do teenagers try so hard to hate HOLLYWOOD HULK HOGAN?" especially when deep down they really do love him as do we all. Gospel my friend. This could be one of the most perfect posts I've ever seen on WC. I almost want to make a T-shirt with Pastamania on the front and this on the back. I use to be one of those teens, and couldn't agree more.

I don't think they do that here. Sorry. If I'm wrong someone let me know.
