I've got to say, I totally expected his heelishness to win out tonight. And perhaps it will; maybe he's got some larger plan, but let's just look at it on the surface.
He and his on and off again friend Edge are talking about their ambitions. Edge says he really wants to be in Money In The Bank, and wishes Randy luck in his match. Randy stands there thinking, looking suspicious.
Come time for the match, Edge goes toe to toe with Rob Van Dam for a VERY long time. Finally, it looks like he might lose (still no guarantees) and Randy runs down and takes a WICKED shot for him (without actually interfering, so he doesn't cost Edge the match), and then edge hits the spear and wins.
When he rolled out of the ring, and was laying there on the safety mats next to Orton, all I could think was, "Hey, they're friends." Maybe that's very girly of me, but especially when Randy was walking a dazed Edge up the ramp and said something along the lines of "It's yours now, man," I was just sort of thrilled.
The best part was: It didn't seem gay, like all other wrestling friendships. It just seemed cool, like "shit, if I was a wrestler, I hope I'd have someone willing to do that for me."
Anyone else get that vibe?
Of course, I'm sure it has some soon to be revealed alterior motive, but still...

Also, I've gotta say, heels who are genuine friends strike me as much scarier than villains forming shifty, untrusting alliances.
Agree? Disagree?

Well how do you know he was coming down there to help Edge? Maybe he wasnt and just got kicked by RVD and had to play off that anyway...

Typically, one does try to help out thier boyfriend. Clearly you haven't been watching wrestling long.

Typically, one does try to help out thier boyfriend. I shall undo you. Specifically, why? Typically, one does try to help out thier boyfriend. Clearly you haven't been watching wrestling long. 8 years, when Mania rolls around. So, let me rephrase: typically, outside of wrestling, one does try to help out thier boyfriend.

Yes, but what is a Thier Boyfriend? The Randy Orton Rant Thread Asks The Pressing Questions.

After you used it the second time, I was hoping a Thier Boyfriend was some kind of really obscure Stargate SG-1 reference.

I can only blame my being very, very sick right now and thus not being able to get my thoughts together all that well.

Randy has been seeming main event level to me lately. The only problem with that is he's been wrestling at main event level for some time already.

I like this "alliance". Unfortunatly thwey both want the WWE title so it wont last long. But when on same page i enjoy the 2 of them together. I also like the way Randy seems to be that guy who you grew up with who was always just watching everyone scheming and waiting...and waiting them bam RKO

Eh.. I don't mind Orton these days.
He's good as a heel, he works a typical heel match... he just can't work the mic that well. He's the kind of guy that good managers were meant to build

Randy and Cena worked a solid match on Raw last night. I liked it a lo, and I think it showed that both guys are getting better and can work. Who's with me?

He drops those and gains some different measure of offense, and in-ring, he'd be perfect for the WWE main event. Now, we need to get this guy some sort of charisma on the mic. Khali's more charismatic than this guy.

Orton has slowly won me over since his return. Cena, aside from the superman antics and the 5 moves of doom(neither which is actually his fault, its the bookers) has steadly improved as well. Cena is on the right side of 30, is learning how to work slowly, but surely. He's 10000 times better than before the program with Edge. a program with HBK can only help matters IMO
