I thought the same thing at first...but in all honesty I actually think Umaga is being pulled off very well. I hated the gimmick at first because I thought it was ridiculous...but it's actually working very well. Go figure. I agree on all points. Not everyone needs to be the next Rock or Austin, and sell 1,000,000 T-shirts with each different minor new catch phrase on it. Umaga serves his purpose very well. Wrestling is "Fake". Everyone knows it. 'Legit' characters won't make it look any more real to everyone who already KNOWS its predetermined. UFC is not the WWE's competition, UFC is a real 'sport'.

UFC is not the WWE's competition, UFC is a real 'sport'. It's the same competition as, say, Gilmore Girls is competition. It's another TV show. Doesn't mean it attracts the same demographic, and even if it does, unless they air at the same time, they aren't in direct competition except for Pay-Per-Views.

I agree. WWE is far too cartoony right now. Just look at Cena.

By "embarrassing," I assume you meant to say "awesome"?
Because he is. Awesome.

I wholeheartedly agree. I hate the way the E is regressing to the cartoon era. Says the guy with the f***ing 'greasers' in his signature. You don't think THAT ain't cartoony? (No offense intended, of course, but I fail to see the difference. In fact, I'd say people named "Deuce" "Domino" and "Cherry" are far worse than an island savage. Crazy island people still exist after all ;D )

I completely agree. From a business sense I don't understand why the WWE would be pushing cartoon characters considering the increased popularity in real fighting sports like the UFC. The Trump vs. McMahon angle is already getting decent coverage and might garner some interest from people who don't know much about the WWE. However, I can bet a lot of people who tune in and see Umaga involved in this are going to change the channel and laugh off this fued as another low brow wrestling stunt. I prefer wrestling to offer an alternative. Me too. The WWE has already been pretty smart about offering an alternative, a vast range of characters. That's what makes them soo appealing, there is something for everyone.

I was thinking the same thing-whereas the E had Hulk Hogan in the 80's-now they have UMAGA WTF? He can't even go on a talk show and hype this match-he's going to get owned anyway I don't know man, Umaga butt splashing people on the apprentice seems REALLY awesome to me.

So now it's a given that the IC title won't be defended at Wrestlemania. Again.

i thought it wouldve been great if vince chose lashley, who got a "teachers pet" type gimmick, as a "mcmahon endorsed ecw champion". kind of like when the rock was "the corporate champion"

Trump could bring back Rosey and call him 90 Second Warning.

At least Vince didn't say "The Great Khali!!!" I wish he HAD said that. I felt a little depression seep in when he announced the unstoppable Umaga who has just recently been stopped dead in his tracks by John Cena. So who is Trump going to get that can possibly beat Umaga? 'Well, he could get Cena, for one' was my immediate thought. Obviously Trump is going to win. But to have Vince's unstoppable guy be the man who was stopped twice recently just makes absolutely zero sense to me. I just lost all interest in that match even if Trump gets Hogan. It'd be like Hogan fighting Cena's leftovers.

Nothing agaist the guy, but he has a cartoon gimmick, and this is the 2nd time he's been involed in a major media angle. First with K-Fed now with Trump. Nothing makes wrestling look more retarded then some savage helping K-Fed win a match or the thought of Umaga in the same ring as Donald Trump. I for one am not pleased. Umaga is fine and all, but I wish they would keep him away from angles that are gonna get a lot of press. But McMahon LOVES this kinda stuff, King. And leave it up to him to push this kind of stereotype into the forefront. It is disgraceful but the old man is diggin' it and when it makes him poop his Depends with glee, it stays.

I wholeheartedly agree. I hate the way the E is regressing to the cartoon era. Maybe WWE is pulling off something Coca Cola did with the "New" Coke. The product will suck so bad that when they offer the older product, everyone will clamor back for it.

So now it's a given that the IC title won't be defended at Wrestlemania. Again. Yeah, that swerve annoyed me. To be honest I was liking the idea that anybody who could beat Jeff in a non-title matchup would get a shot at WM. On the other hand it seems they have plans for a Hardys/MNM feud-ending battle of feud-ending destiny at WM23.

Yeah seriously, gimmicks like that dont need to be in wrestling no more. It makes it look really cheesy and dumb, its a long step back from realer characters like Austin, Rock, and HHH... They can't all be like that because then everyone's going to be too "real." They need the out-there gimmicks to balance it all out and keep the more "reality-based" characters in check. Kind of like that Patton Oswalt joke, where in time, everything "reality" will be filmed and there will be none of it left, so Hollywood will have to start writing a new reality for everyone, complete with fights with zombies and vampires. Then, that generation of indy filmmakers will watch some movie based on our reality and they'll go, "that isn't real life, man! Where are all the zombies and vampires?!"

Umaga was less embarrassing then Jeff Hardy's dance/spasms, with the IC belt flopping up and down. My mum pretty much said "That kid's retarded." Sounds like something my dad would say. He usually gives me a look and says something like "Well, that's enough of that shit, I'm going to bed"
