Ok, I know this is a few months late, but until today I had not watched the event. I borrowed the tape from a friend and I must say, it wasnt as nearly as bad as people on these forums built it up too be.
Some of the criticsms I heard from here were
1) The fans were rejecting everything about the card the whole night. Thats not true at all...it sounded like there were a select few smarks that started a TNA chant that lasted a few brief seconds and the same fans that started a very brief "BS" chant and "We want a refund" chant. These chants thou only lasted a couple seconds and were easily out done by the cheers from the crowd. To say that these chants took over the show is a extreme exageration.
2) The undercard sucked was something else I heard from everyone here.-Ok, while it may not have been Wrestlemania 17 like, I was entertained by the Undercard. The opener was fantastic, I thought there was solid action between Balls and Striker, The mixed Tag was pretty good and the fans were really into it, ending with Knox leaving Kelly to the Wolves.
Burke and Terkay vs the FBI was even well recieved by the crowd and I thought it was a pretty good tag team match.
The only match that I was really dissapointed by was Dreamer and Daviri.
I know the matches minus the Hardys were unannounced, which is a criticism which I agree with, but there really wasnt anything wrong with the majority of the undercard matches. Every match featured an Original with Balls and Sandman getting pretty big rubs. Even Dreamer was made to look good when he left the stage on his own after taking the chokebomb from Khali.
Now on to another criticism I heard from here, The Chamber match not featuring weapons enough. How can you say that? For as short as the match was, weapons were basically the reason just about every wrestler was eliminated from the match.
Another gripe I heard was the action in the chamber sucked. For as short as it was I thought it was very action packed. Punks offense was great, same for Rvd. Holly delt out some really good stuff on Rvd and Punk on the outside of the ring, and Test had a sweet Elbow off the top of the pod to take out RVD. I also love the chair spot Rvd took when he went into it head first, I thought it looked brutal.
And finally an unfair Critisicm I feel was Holly's addition to the chamber. I thought he did a very good job in the spot and really held his own in dishing out some very brutal punishment to Punk and Rvd. I think it would have really hurt the match if Sabu was in and he was bothcing stuff up like he usually does. At least Holly executed his stuff well. It would have been really weird also to have all those babyfaces in the match, would have really wrecked the dynamic.
Now on to the just (imo) criticisms. The chamber match was very short and wrestlers were out before a couple of the wrestlers even got into the match. I totally agree here. It doesnt make sense too me why they wouldnt prolong this match when the ppv ended very short and the fans were really into the match, with the exception of maybe Show couldnt handle being the ring physically so they had to cut short the match....(Yes even Lashley spearing Show then the pin garnered a good pop from the crowd).
Another just criticism was the length of the ppv. All they needed to do was prolong the Chamber or the Daviri Dreamer match and it would have added enough time to the card.
All in all, this wasnt the best ppv, but it was by far not as bad as everyone made it out to be. We got basically the entire roster of Ecw on the card with pretty good matches along with an excellent opener. Balls was put over, the Sandman looked really good, Burke and Terkay looked strong, and the Knox Kelly storyline was ended.
The fans were also much better then people on this site made them out too be. It seems like a few small chants by smarks garner bigger reactions on this site then what the great majority of the fans were doing, cheering and chanting(there were quite a few very loud ECW chants during the card.)
I just don't get how people can say this was the worst ppv of all time, it wasnt even close.
