I just saw the video of The Rock and Eugene on the "biggest pop" threads. And I gotta say...what happened to that?
Eugene's act is stale now, but at the time, that was one of the best angles WWE has done in years. IMHO, it may be the best post-Attitude angle WWE has done period. Everything about it was perfect. Nick Dinsmore NAILED the character. Eric Bischoff and Coach were the perfect assholes to him. William Regal as the reluctant mentor turned protector. Triple H's manipulation of him. That last part solidified Triple H as being one of the biggest assholes the WWE has seen on air in a long time.
And that moment with The Rock? Pure magic. The Rock MADE Eugene over as hell. Its too bad WWE let it go too far. It should have ended sooner, but man, at first I loved the hell out of this angle.

I wished they would have kept Eugene as a heel when they turned him heel last year, now he's just a joke.

I still enjoy Eugene. The problem is that there is only so much you can do with a retarded wrestler gimmick. I still think that the WWE missed the boat on turning Dinsmore heel and dropping the retarded gimmick. There were so many oppurtunities over the past 3 years that they could have easily pulled it off.
The upside of this is the fact that Dinsmore can shave, cut his hair, and debut next week, and the crowd would have absolutely no idea that he was once Eugene.

Maybe have him cut his hair shave and maybe could be the new dean malenko of the cruiserweight division. Introduce him as Nick Dinsmore, the cousin or brother of Eugene.

When Eugene first came onto the scene, the angle was very good. However, the "wrestler with mental retardation" gimmick can only last so long. Now, the character is stale.

I been thinking about how they could change him to a normal wrestler for years and the only idea I like his him getting hit the head with a chair and becoming normal. For story purposes it knocked something loose and now hes no longer retarded. I say thats a decent easy way to kill off the retard gimmick. Its better than nothing.

Just have him sort of be a old-shool loving smark that only likes wrestling to be traditional and despises high risk moves and believes women should not be in wrestling. Feuds with Carlito and Jeff Hardy would be perfect and he needs a mask since people would just think of him as Eugene. Also his mask should be a replica of Dick "The Destroyer" Beyer. Anyway I love this idea, dosen't Eugene already do an airplane spin? |

I always had the idea that a heel would feud with Eugene, then mentally scar him so badly that he would never want to wrestle again. A few weeks pass, then a clean-cut, casual clothes-wearing Nick Dinsmore interrupts a promo that the heel is cutting, saying that Eugene is his cousin, and that he loved wrestling all his life, and the heel took away the one thing that made him happy. He also mentions that he's a wrestler himself, and Eugene looks up to him. Now he's here to avenge his cousin.

He should've turned heel by being revealed to be a regular guy just pretending to be mentally handicapped (doing it for sympathy, for fun, whatever).

I think they could have had it revealed that Eugene wasn't really a retard and just pretended to be one to get a wrestling contract. I know it's stupid, but it's something WWE would have done. |

They should have the Great Khali "brain" chop eugene and the next week reveal that Khali's mighty "chop" fixed Eugene and now he is normal.
this would get khali over big because the fans would no longer have to suffer through the retard gimmick.
