Dude, I think the IWC would rather complain about how Piper doesn't have the WWF Title. Plus, somebody who really can't wrestle all that well and sucks at promos or something would become an internet phenomenon. My guess: David Sammartino. You mean like how everyone loved Burchill just for the sake of marking for someone that sucks at wrestling / sucks at promos / has no physique?

I was more going for the Snitsky/Khali/Kennedy phenomenons. ;D I though Burchill was pretty good during the "Pirate era." Not the best wrestler in the world, but certainly praiseworthy. Also, I don't really think "physique" is necessary for a wrestler to be liked, but that's another topic for another day.

Let's see. In the 80's, the things that bugged me the most were Hogan (hated him from the first time I saw him, just an instant reaction), Jake Roberts' lack of a major sustained title push, Koko B. Ware not getting more time on TV, Garvin's title run, any company in the world letting Sid have an open mic (funny now, brain numbing as a young fan), and Savage getting the "second bannana" treatment for his ENTIRE title run. *runs up and hugs angryfan* I'd also lay money on "any NWA/AWA wrestler coming into the WWF and getting crazy treatment". Ricky Steamboat comes to mind first, then Duthty. I'm sure there are others, too. And definitely the Ultimate Warrior's workrate. And, dare I say, Hogan's. I think had there been an IWC (frankly, which I still protest the actual existence of), I don't know if he'd have been as big as he was. There would have had to have been a ton and a half of websites dogging him about his stroke backstage, about him not letting other guys go over him, etc. and I think that would've seriously hurt his standing among fans.

But...you're on the internet, talking to other people on the internet about wrestling. That's what the IWC is.
If you mean the weird, hivemind, Illuminati-style IWC that all worship at a Chris Benoit alter in the center of the Earth. No, that doesn't really exist.

Because you know no one actually LIKED the guy or anything. People definately liked him... But he still sucked. You can't name one exciting match he had in WWE or one memorable promo. Kennedy has pretty good mic skills I think. I can almost guarantee a 2007 title run for him.

And they didn't really give him much to work with in the promo department. "I'm wrestling Scotty 2 Hotty tonight! Because...well, who else is there? I'm talented, but not quite ready for the main event yet. Also, I'm a pirate! But Vince never heard of pirates, so apparently they don't exist." *shrugs awkwardly until the camera pans to something else*

Furthermore, how can you just assume that he was good but was just never given the opportunity? Are we able to just divine that he was great even though we've never actually seen him do anything good? Here's the truth... everyone liked him because he dressed like a pirate and for no other reason.

He didn't have good matches, per se, but he was a good wrestler. That's happened before. It's called "working with what they give you." Mike Rotunda was a decent wrestler, but that doesn't mean IRS should've been World Champion. Also, I'm not everyone. Don't lump me with everyone. Thank you.

Ron Garvin - world champion Black Saturday Dynamite Kid - not world champion Whats black saturday? I believe it happened in 1984, Vince McMahon purchased a federation that aired on TBS, and his first week with Turner, decided to air his own product over the regular show that fans would tune into. The result was a shitload of complaints to the Turner corporation, and the beginning of Vince vs. Turner for the next 17 years.
