I know this is coming way after the fact, but I was thinking back to how Big Show got heat repeatedly for not doing something about his weight, etc. etc.
And I was wondering, Why did they make such a big deal about his size when they allowed Viscera to get to the point where he has to pay for 2 seats on an airplane?
Was it in regards to his character, or were they legitimately concerned for his health?

I wonder if Viscera works out at all. Never heard that about Big Show but for their sizes (Show, Viscera, etc), much like Andre, you have to figure they're gonna break down quicker than someone in far better shape.

Well, you see ... Big Show is ... I mean, Viscera ... it's like, because of his height ...
LOOK! SOMETHING BIG AND SHINY!

I kinda doubt WWE would care if Vis just fell over and died from a heart attack...."Well, crap, call Goldust back, we need someone new for HeAT now"
But Show is a main eventer and a huge name and it'd look worse for them if he died and plus he's harder to replace. My thinking on this, anyway.

Well Vis was fired once before, so it could have been about weight, I think mostly they never bothered about Vis since he wasn't a big name like Vader, Yoko, or Big Show.

Well the rumor/urban legend/funny story I heard about Vis's first firing was that HBK caught him snorting lines of coke off the hood of a limo and told Vince on him. I kinda doubt WWE would care if Vis just fell over and died from a heart attack...."Well, crap, call Goldust back, we need someone new for HeAT now" But Show is a main eventer and a huge name and it'd look worse for them if he died and plus he's harder to replace. My thinking on this, anyway. Good Point, I was just thinking that if they would give Show grief on his weight, then why not extend Vis the same discourtesy? Well, maybe my conspiracy theory is off base and it simply comes down to "Show wasn't always a fat slob, Vis was"

Yea, pretty much. Vis has always been a big fat guy. He wouldn't be the same if he wasn't.

Kinda funny that they fired Rikishi for repeatedly not losing weight, yet they turn around and hire someone even fatter. Just shows you the stupidity of the system. Even funnier were the reports around 2000 that they fired THE BLUE MEANIE because he was fat. Think about that. THE BLUE MEANIE. The man who's entire gimmick is wearing a half shirt WITH HIS ENORMOUS GUT STICKING OUT! Like they suddenly just realized he's a bit tubby? Morons.

I think it was mostly that Big Show had come into the 'E after some surgery for the weight (Lipo?) and then proceeded to just get bigger and bigger, making him slower and way less agile than he can be. Also, as a main eventer, it seems like they try to keep the guys in better shape unless their gimmick relies on the size (I.E. Yokozuna).
With Big Vis, well, he's Big Vis, it's his whole gimmick. As for Rikishi, I think it's because, like Big Show, he had a planned spot among the big dogs and he just wouldn't lose the weight.

They didn't pay Show to jump to WWE and put on 70 pounds.
