Well, the stereotyped bodybuilder has never gotten as over as many seem to think...
The generic big guy ends up being replaced with a new one if he can't come up with something distinctive or special.
WWE's supposed hard-on for hosses is an overplayed card, and unless you consider Cena a bodybuilder (and with him a good 90% of recent times' champions), hosses SELDOM held major titles, but were used as sidekicks to the more versatile/charismatic wrestlers

Sure there are some big guys who get the pushes based on their size alone, but not all. Cena is a perfect example. He isn't a bodybuilder... he looks like the guy who mows lawns in your neighborhood. On the other hand Snitsky is a huge guy, and he can't get a push to save his life.

"Yet in the WWE, pretty much all the guys you see are in the 6'4 range and over 230 pounds or so. Which isn't normal, really. I mean, I've met maybe a handful of people that closely resemble a WWE wrestler Superstar, generally on the beach with tiny Asian girls on their arms."
...
Clearly, we live in VERY different contries !

To be fair, seeing two roided-up giants beating the crap out of each other is pretty entertaining when seen live. When you see the wrestlers on tv you don't get to see just how big they are since they're always surrounded by similarly sized people. Believe me, if I owned a fed and saw Viscera walking down the street my first thought would be 'I'm gonna sign this guy and push him to the moon'. You sound like Joey Styles

Big guys are just better raw material in a lot of cases; they attract attention even without a lot of talent or skill. When I saw Daniel Rodimer (much maligned on these boards), my SECOND thought was, "Wow, he really does look just like Orton." But my FIRST thought was, "Jeeze, this dude is HUGE."
