If it was a knock at Angle they'd be jobbing not winning.

Yeah...thats why he used to walk around in a t shirt that said tap out on it before Shamrock even debuted in WWF. And no it wasn't the tapout clothing company. It was a black shirt, with orange letters made specifically by ECW for Taz.I guess they just made it because Pass Out isnt as catchy. A bit of it can be seen below. As far as Maeda goes, Puro refrences are all well and good for you, but he can hardly be credited with "making tapping out famous" stateside when next to nobody here knows who he is. Just cause you and I do doesn't mean it's famous. I'd say it's just about as popular as some small company in Philly that very few people knew about outside of the distinct fans of the company. You are exactly right, that explains all those people across the country that were chanting "MA E DA! MA E DA!" At WWF shows in 96 and 97.

Sure thing if they gave Maeda a run in WWF like they did for ECW, and also considering they were close to ECW's arenas. Next you're gonna tell me people would chant ROH when CM Punk is in the ring in Chicago.

i think they should start building Burke as ECWs number 1 or 2 heel, hes got great mic skills and seems above average in ring.Hes so much more fun to watch than Test or Holly. He needs to drop the albatross known as Borekay quick.

Well, the ECW chant I heard at the Anaheim Pond show I went to in 96(pre ECW invasion I might add) would say you were wrong. But you can believe what you will. Makes no difference to me. I still think you are super duper smart for knowing about Puro. And that was the point after all right?

Terkay's reverse CHokeslam was sick, and I really liked that HIgh flying Shining Wizard Burke did to Little Guido

I like "KO/TO Connection" better than just saying it all out. Short enough to sound good.
Plus the "Connection" part harkens back to days of Andre, Haku, Tom Zenk and Rick Martel...

Well, they also chanted "You Tapped Out" at Triple H after Benoit made him tap out at WM XX. So you can throw in Benoit with Shamrock and Angle as the guys who made tapping out a household name...if it is a household name, that is. Dude, Benoit didnt have the gimmick of a a tough shoot fighter like Angle did, the tap out stuff was a part of Angle's gimmick and thats the whole thing. And I believe Angle is the one whose the prime factor in the Tap-Out chanting rather than Benoit. It seems you're getting the whole point wrong. Terkey's gimmick is that he is an MMA fighter. In MMA, people submit by tapping out, and have for years. I don't think anyone associates tapping out with Kurt Angle uniquely. There is a brand of clothing - "Tap Out" that sponsers MMA fighters, and again, has for years. Angle didn't make tapping out, he just used for a sec...

I call bs there. Taz was doing it before Shamrock as I recall. Taz choked people out, they didn't submit. Plus before him I'll throw a name out there. Akira Maeda anyone? Taz was the first wrestler to make his opponents tap out in American wrestling.

So the Knockout part comes from Burke's history in boxing, but the Tapout part is to rip on Kurt Angle? Like Terkay has never made anyone tapout? The guy is a former MMA fighter, amatuer wrestler, etc. He has as much right to use the phrase "Tap Out" as Angle does.
If they wanted to rip on Angle, they would hire Eric Angle and job him to Stevie Richards clean.

Silly me thinking it was an Olympic Gold Medalist for all these years.

Why is everything always a rip-off of something else?

i heard them call them by the name "the KO/TO Con" last night and i thought it was merely one of those impromptu announcer things where they say something but if it doesn't stick no harm done. I don't think it's official. But then again, I didn't think "Man-Bear(Pig)" was either...

Since when was Kurt Angle a shootfighter?
He was doing the Extreme Olympic Hero which featured more free style wrestling involved.
Oh and quick tidbit.
Kurt Angle wrestled and defeated Sylvester Terkay in their 1991 NCAA finals match.
A tournament that also included Randy Coutoure

Kotocon = Best Name For A Tag Team Ever.
I bet that it´s the new favorite tag team of Otacon, for obvious reasons.
