I like Foley but he seems a little self absorbed these days. He constantly talked about himself throughout ONS 2005 which irritated me no end and whenever he's asked for his opinion on something he always relates it back to himself. He's changed somewhat from who he used to be, maybe (as much of a legend as he is) he started to believe his own hype a little too much.
It makes me cry inside.

I tend to agree. And I don't care about any of his new books, either.

Hmm.. I agree, but at least he admitted to being a Terry Funk knock off during one of the matches. I also agree what Triple H said one RAW, "Foley is like one of those turds, no matter how many times you flush it, it always finds its way back up."
He should go back to being commissioner of RAW. That ruled a whole bunch.

Well, he will come out of semi-retirement to lay down for Edge and Cena.

he was very annoying during the first ONS. It seemed like his only purpose was to get himself over.
Oh and he said people called Bubba Ray Dudley a Mick Foley rip-off. I don't remember anyone ever saying that, nor do I see why anyone would

Can't really blame the guy for being self-absorbed though. I mean, when you have a thousand kids a day coming up to you and telling you you're the greatest, what are you supposed to think??

When you been through what he's been through over the past 20 years, you have every right to a bit self absorbed.
He may hype up alot of the crazy stunts, but that's because they were revolutionary and f***ing insane!
Foley is God

What he's been through? You make him sound like a hero, he put himself through whatever it was he's been through.

But no one else had the balls to do it, he did it to give the fans something to remember and surely enough people still talk about all his crazy stunts.

The way he jobs to everybody, I don't think he's TOO self absorbed.
He loves himself, yes, like most of us love ourselves. But at least he puts people over. He could be like too many others and only wrestle if he's going over.

I don't give a damn who he put over thats not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the fact that if you stick a mic in front of his mouth he'll put himself over til the cows come home.

I haven't seen Raw in 3 or so weeks (in China), so I haven't really heard him talk, but I can't seem to think of a recent example of him putting himself over.

Hasn't that always been Foley's style though? He's a bit of a dork, he builds himself up as much as he can...and eventually goes into the match, which usually ends with him staring up at the lights.' And you kinda have to talk a lot about yourself to make you look important if you don't win many matches.
Are you saying he's self absorbed in real life or just when doing promos, in character? At ONS, the last few weeks on RAW, odds are he was pretty much doing as he was expected to by WWE creative, and kniowing Creative they probably told him "Talk loads about yourself, in case people aren't sure who you are"...(Personally I think Creative believes most wrestling fans are in fact morons so they dumb things down as much as possible)
And what would you have him do? He was in a match this PPV, was he supposed to suck up to John Cena and talk about how great he is? "Well it would be a hard match for me to win, except for the fact John Cena is in it, and there is no way I can beat him, so I suggest the others involved just give it up now, cause we're all doing the Job to Cena." (Actually once upon a time he coulda made that hilarious) Heck we all know that every time he comes back, he's gonna lose. Orton, Edge, Last week to Umaga, Last night (To Cena), he's laid down every time. SHall we compare him to other seni-retired masters of self promotion?
Although I will concede that his interviews in the last few weeks have been pretty boring (As compared to some of his classics....Foley used to have the most entertaining interviews this side of the Rock or Austin.....but this go round it almost felt like he was taking tips from Randy orton)

I mean when he's out of character. ONS 2005, interviews on WWE.com etc. Heck one interview asked him for PPV predictions and he somehow managed to put himself in everything and not predict a thing .

he didn't have to do any of his stunts. all of them were his own choice with the intent of putting himself over or making a situation he is involved in better. he didn't save any children or prevent a war. nothing he has done has came at random out of neccesity.
does the guy have guts? sure...but a lot of people can take pain and there are a lot of people that would gladly do similar things as foley if given the oppurtunity. hell, a whole revolution of backyard wrestling was started based on his style...which saw 13 year old kids taking bigger bumps across the country.
its just that he is the only one who has been recognized as hardcore. he is the wwe's posterboy for it.
he is great onscreen, and sounds like a good man based on his books. his knowledge of the business seems very unique but i don't think i have ever liked him in the ring. aside from his barrel body style; he is slow and awkward with a limited moveset, all while being put over like the second coming of christ.
sure you need people to take bumps and work the mic, so its always good to have mick around. don't consider him a top 10 wrestling talent though. his goodness comes from all the things in the business except that.
i could see where the dude may demand a little respect , because he has been invovled in all areas of the business and has really made a telltale trip of what its all about. he's seen-all done-all within it and regardless of what people say he's been there. you can't substitute that.

Yeah, I first thought of him as self absorbed when I read The Hardcore Diaries, turned into a petty bitch. Like Paul Heyman said, a prostitute

I also agree what Triple H said one RAW, "Foley is like one of those turds, no matter how many times you flush it, it always finds its way back up." Actually, aside from being yet aanother rock thrown in his glass house, I believe HH said that about Owen and called him a 'nugget' instead of a turd. And if you really think Foley is absorbed, I suggest going back and listening to any radio interview involving Hogan, HHH, Goldberg, Batista, HBK ET AL. Cracking a joke about Buh Buh Ray being a Cactus knockoff has nothing on trying to make yourself look good by burying everyone else in the wrestling world.
