he already was johnny blaze, briefly but he was. Yup. The very next week he told Bischoff he changed his last name to Nitro to honor WWE's GM. It was not long after that he disappeared off TV for a long time and when he came back he was in MNM. He was Spade the next week, and then he came out the next week and changed it to Nitro. Then he lost a loser leaves Raw match against Eugene like a month later

Johnny Nitro is an awesome ring name, even if you change Johnny to john. If he completely embraces a Jim Morrison style, in terms of talking, music, style, ill be pissed, because impersonating a famous person is not a long term thing I'm sorry to single you out, but people keep posting things like this and there's no reason for it. The matter of the name change was addressed in the first post in this thread. Everyone read carefully this time (and again, I'm talking to everyone, not just you): - The internal feeling was that Johnny Nitro wasn't a serious ring name. Dusty Rhodes, Jen Hunt, Dave Lagana, among others, suggested new names to Vince McMahon. McMahon, of course, selected John Morrison. Everybody got that? Good.

Should be a fun show. Gerweck.net McMahon chose Morrison...interesting. so Vince is possibly a Doors fan? maybe he has good taste afterall.... yea but seriously, who isn't?

I think Vince just didn't want any of his World Champions named "Nitro."
6 years later, and Vince still can't let it go.

Maybe Vince is just a John Wayne fan and thought that's where the name came from.

I think right now in Africa there's some guy madly beating on a drum. He's a Doors fan. Or an old lady sitting on a bus sucking humbags. She's a Rider On The Storm but she ain't ever heard the sounds".

Johnny Nitros a real good name. John Morrison sounds like a social studies teacher... Yeah, I dont understand the point. The Nitro name was already over, why change it now

He was Spade the next week, and then he came out the next week and changed it to Nitro. That's right, he changed it TWICE - first to Spade, then to Nitro to honor Bischoff. Jumpin' jehosepaht, he really has had the most different names of anyone in WWE over the last 5 years that's still on TV or with the company. I can't think of anybody else with more than 2. Mordecai = Thorn, Simmons = Farrooq, Spanky = Kendrick, Nunzio = Guido, Richards = Stevie Cool... I'm stumped. 2 each time.
