He is the ultimate heel who acts like a face. I LOOOOOOVEEEEE watching Cena get the SHIT beaten out of him. I love it when Orton RKOs him or punts his dad.

an perfected by Austin and The Rock during the Attitude era. Some love them, some hate them, but they always get a reaction. Only difference is guys like Stone Cold would beat up anyone (heels and faces) and still get cheered, but Cena when fights guys like HBK and HHH, he tends to get the crap booed out of him.

He's not a tweener.
A tweener is between a heel and a face. He's loved by the crowd and has heroic qualities, but he doesn't care who he beats up or pisses off, like Rock and Austin at the height of their popularities.
The crowds loved their tweener acts. The Attitude Era in general with it's, as Vince put it, "shades of gray" was the perfect environment for tweener characters to thrive.
The problem with Cena is that he's pushed like he's a goody-two shoes babyface that can do no wrong and always fights the bad guys. However, a large portion of the fans hate this.
I don't see why they haven't wised up to this yet. Turning him heel and/or not pushing him as Mr Superman McGood Guy would go over HUGE with the crowd!

Rocky Maivia (pre Nation). Id say he was the best "heel face" he was supposed to be a face but everyone hated him.

batista is cheered by marks, who are casual fans, and DONT read internet reports. so thats why he gets cheered.
cena is a bit different, because although he hasnt done anything wrong, hes had the belt collectively for almost 3 years. so people just want the belt off him.
yeah im saying what everybody else says, but its true.

I really, really don't get why people try to make excuses for Cena and the crowd booing him out of arenas. It doesn't make him good at all. The crowd aren't supposed to boo him, he's a babyface. JR's "controversial champion" comments are just a way of covering up the fact that he's not doing his job in getting everyone to love him. |
