Okay anyone posting here will be a real help to me. Anyway I haven't really been paying much attention to WWE tv this year. So I haven't really followed the storylines or even the matches.
So what I'd like to know is whether any of the PPVs this year are worth buying on DVD. I've currently got the Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania 23 (I actually thought it was pretty s*** but got it for the cool collectors case) and Backlash. Are there any others worth buying?
Thanks guys.

Other than Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania, every PPV seemed the same to me. They weren't bad, but to tell you the truth, I couldn't tell them apart.

One Night Stand, Great American Bash and No Mercy are the others that stand out as being excellent B-Level shows this year (although I personally enjoy any PPV regardless). New Years Revolution also had 3 great matches on, John Cena vs Umaga, D-X vs RKO and Jeff Hardy vs Johnny Nitro in a Cage Match. Hope this helps.

One Night Stand was kind of disappointing. The card had so much potential, but it fell flat.

I loved Backlash, Vengence was not too bad (Edge v Batista stood out) IMO Judgement day had some good midcard matches but I wouldnt waste too much on them though

One Night Stand was kind of disappointing. The card had so much potential, but it fell flat. I actually beg to differ.I dont think there was a single match on there I didnt enjoy. I know Kane vs Mark Henry gets a lot of flack but even then, as always I just took it for what it was and enjoyed it. Was only meant as quick filler and to get Henry pushed a bit further, and it done its job IMO.

Backlash and Wrestlemania are the top two with Royal Rumble being third. All the other PPV's were average or total garbage IMO.

I'd get Vengeance. Most of the matches were really good, and the tributes to some of the former champs were very classy. I collect all of the WWE releases because, well, I just love wrestilng, but if you just want the best shows, Vengeance is the way to go.
Great American Bash wasn't too bad either. I know that alot of guys around here hated the show, but I thought there was some solid action there. Cena/Lashley was surprisingly good, Khali/Batista/Kane wasn't bad for a hoss match, and the ECW title match wasn't too bad.

Wrestlemania 23 and Backlash were the best shows this year, IMO. Great American Bash also had my favourite match of this year (Cena vs. Lashley) but the rest of the card was very mediocre.

Other than Backlash, there's really not a whole lot of greatness. Bash and Vengeance were both okay, but I'm not sure they're worth buying.

As far as WWE matches go, Vengeance may be worth it just for the Edge/Batista match alone. I thought that was so good.
As for overall shows, One Night Stand and No Mercy stand out for me. I also seem to remembering thinking No Way Out, despite not having any ground breaking turns of events, had a TON of solid wrestling on it.

And I don't know if it's available yet, but I enjoyed No Mercy, even if it did play out like a 3 hour episode of Raw.
Also, whatever you do, don't get Summer Slam.

I think that the GAB this year was surprisingly good, I also really liked WWE ONS it was a gimmick PPV but it was fun. The Royal Rumble was great too. I have Vengeance on DVD it's okay I liked the Edge vs Batista match because Batista cried at the end, LOL. And the Fatal 4-way for the WWE title was great but kinda short match. So those are the ones that I think are worth buying.
Every other PPV this year has been kinda meh.

It was certainly hampered, to me at least, by the sense of "cruise control" the PPV had. I mean, it's between the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania...it's rare that they do something significant between those pay-per-views. The first two reborn Great American Bashes. now those were WCW terrible.

I thought it was really solid, especially now looking at the results. Benoit & The Hardyz vs MNM & MVP was a great opener, the Tag Title match was really good (probably thought less of since it was teased at first to be a 4 way ladder match rematch), Kane and King Booker surprised me for how good it was, the Cruiserweight invitational had lots of good action, Kennedy carrying Lashley (oh yes, that's right) after hauling Batista's dead ass around the month prior was a sight to behold, and the main event while nothing phenomenal was very good too. I really enjoyed that show.

I agree with MGH. While No Way Out couldn't really have anything too major happen and really was just a transitional show between the Rumble and Wrestlemania, it was a pretty solid show from a wrestling perspective. The show also felt like a big deal because of the set and arena (Staples Center in LA, same as WM21). I enjoyed it a lot and I think it gets a lot more flak than it deserves.
Outside of the big three mentioned (Royal Rumble, WM23, Backlash) and No Way Out, I also enjoyed No Mercy. If anything, it was unpredictable. I also liked One Night Stand, though it could've been a lot more than it was.

Actually, there is a PPV worse than GAB 2004. Its called Armageddon 2003.

Maybe I need to see No Way Out 2007 again just to see if my original analogy was right.I do however remember the 6 man tag opener being very good and the main event being very enjoyable.
