Have Santino re-win it and have a LONG heel reign with it like Honkytonk Man did in the late 80s. YES. That is a great idea. He should scrape by with fluke win after fluke win until people are desperate to see him lose it. The dastardly, cowardly, underhanded heel, when done right, will always get over. Always. I must admit I was wrong about Santino. When he was a face and first won the title I thought he was useless. But if he's used right he could be majorly over as a heel. When that happens, give him the belt. Although have him feud with someone other than Jeff Hardy for it, as Hardy bores me.

I actually disagree with the Santino idea. Because, I don't think, people have the patience for that kind of angle.

The good thing about it is if people aren't into it they can take the title off of him. I just wish they'd have kept it on Umaga longer. He really could have made it credible.

I forgot Umaga was IC Champion till you mentioned it. The past few years seem like a blur to me as it pertains to the history of the IC title.

The problem with a midcard title is that the midcard has been weak for a very long time. With most of Raw dedicated to divas, skits, and 20 speeches, its hard to estabolish a strong midcard. if the midcard suffers, so does the title at represents it.

IC Championship has prestige when it was: a) the highest point of the career of many Superstars who weren't "good enough" (for whatever reason) for Main Eventing, but were over with the crowd because they were good in their role and treated [booked] accordingly. b) a decisive step toward the Main Eventing for younger guys The IC Title began to lose importance when it began changing hands every other month around 1997, then it got worse during the peak of the MNWs, with the belt being won and lost by most of the roster on a monthly (when not weekly and DAILY) basis. It doesn't matter if it was Jericho v Angle v Benoit or Albert v Billy Gunn... it was the way the title was portrayed that killed its credibility... Most of the Multiple Time Champions don't reach the 200 days mark... Jericho's 7 reigns lasted an unimpressive 208 days (29,8 DpR), RVD's 6 for 210 (35 DpR), Edge's 5 for 171 (37 DpR) The IC title pretty much died around 1997-99, and was buried when Triple H unified it. The "revived" IC belt [2003-today] saw some long reigns, who were dull and mostly due to the focus being totally driven away from the belt, that was more or less "on hold" for months, before WWE half-assedly tried to saddle it with another "we-don't-know-what-to-do-with-him, let's-give-him-the-IC-title" Superstar. Nitro and Hardy feuding over the belt, and not for something else, kinda helped restoring a bit of credibility, then came Umaga and Santino... Now it's back to Hardy and Kennedy. Who are sadly eyeing the WWE title instead... I'd actually say Orton's IC reign was pretty good, as was Shelton's first reign, which for a while looked like it would propel Shelton into the main event.

I think the Hardy/Kennedy feud that's been teased lately is a lot like the way they used to do the IC title. Two upper midcarders fighting over the stepping stone to the world title. Like Rude and Warrior. Or Ramon and HBK. ;D

I second Orton's seven month reign, he made the title feel like it was worth something. When he won it, he celebrated in a way that shamed a hell of a lot of World Champions in the way they show no emotion when winning it
