I would say Dusty. But I really doubt they'd be able to put much of a match on these days with them being of pensionable age.

Right on, brother. I'm tired of hearing all of this high and mighty "pass the torch" talk. Ric Flair has put more people over in his career than any main eventer I can remember. He's already said to have "passed the torch" to Sting, Luger, Randy Orton, and Triple H. How many times does he have to pass the damn thing? And how come he's considered to even still have the friggin' torch? It's not like he's earned any huge victories in the last five years. Gimme a break. If you ask me, Ric Flair should defeat John Cena, Randy Orton, Edge, Cody Rhodes, and Triple H in a 60 Minute Elimination Chamber match at his final WrestleMania. He's given enough to the business in 35 years. It wouldn't hurt the business to give him a final salute on his way out the door. the reason people think it would be great for him to pass the torch is because we are referencing what the "nature boy" buddy rogers did for flair. i believe what we are all getting at isn't just him putting someone over put passing on the nature boy moniker to another up and coming young performer letting the legend of the nature boy continue on.

Exactly. Besides, he's already had plenty of matches with Steamboat and Sting. Fact is, to retread there wouldn't make for a very good match, in all likelyhood.

Anyone but Hogan. In 2008 there is no reasonm for that man to be on television. I'd love to see Sting, more realistically Trips get the rub, but I really don't know. Flair should be allowed to bow out any way he pleases.

I think the name should be retired, but whoever beats him should use the Figure Four. If this happens, I hope they bring back... for one night only... Zach Gowen.

It doesn't really matter at this stage...
Flair stopped being relevant around 4 years ago (that night in Greensboro) and he was already past his prime, and his still-acceptable-Sunset-Boulevard walk was over as well.
Nowadays it'd add absolutely NOTHING to the momentum of the Superstar who'll beat him, no matter how much hype the match gets... Hell, Kenny Dykstra got some wins over Flair...
The Nature Boy has no torch to pass, not even a candle or a match...

It would be most effective to have Flair put over an up-and-comer on his way out. However, the nostalgic kid in me wants to see him wrestle one of his old foes one last time

It's gotta be against Steamboat. Otherwise, no dice.

It has to be either Dusty or Steamboat. Flair has been very graceful to the point where he's a joke. I think they need to start a fued between Flair and Elijah, where Elijah convinces him to retire after beating him x amount of times.
Flair's about to walk out, then either Dusty or Steamboat comes out and says that Flair can't leave yet. Flair says that he should leave because he's all out of steam. Then his old foe tells him that he can't let Flair possibly leave before they have one more match...at the granddaddy of them all, Wrestlemania. Elijah tells Flair not to, he's too old, but Flair gets persuaded by the fans.
Granted, this should all be around No Mercy time. The weeks leading to Wrestlemania, Elijah keeps trying to talk Flair out of it. Flair doesn't give in, cause if the wheelin' dealin' son of a gun is going out, it's gonna be in style at Wrestlemania baby WHOOOOOO!!!!
At WM, Elijah comes out to be on Flair's opponent's side. He keeps trying distract Flair, and the ref finally catches him and throws him out, popping the fans. If Flair faces Dusty, Dusty goes to the outside and gives Elijah a bionic elbow on his way back, eliciting an even bigger pop from the already riled fans. Half an hour later (after they tear the roof off old school style), the match is over, the two men hug, and we have another Wrestlemania moment, Flair's retirement.
There, I got a heel over on Flair's way out and provided something all Flair fans would love. Shit, WWE, why haven't you called me back yet? Don't worry, you can take this idea for free. At least it would make your program watchable.

At least it would make your program watchable. If you think a thirty minute match between Flair and another old dude would be "watchable," you have your wires crossed, sir. Although other than that, it is a good idea.
