It's a move that almost anyone can do to anyone else safely without major risk of f***ing it up.

It's a move that almost anyone can do to anyone else safely without major risk of smurfing it up. Yep. But unfortunately, not everyone looks good with it. For example, I don't think it's the right move for Edge, but for Goldberg it was perfect. |

As has been said, it's safe, and can still look devastating. Add in the fact that even the greenest guy can pull it off without any real effort, and it's a surefire addition. You can botch a hip toss horribly and injure yourself or others, but it's a lot more difficult to screw up "run into that guy over there" unless you trip en route and faceplant, which I would find incredibly hillarious.

Edge's spear is better executed, but he doesn't weigh enough or have enough muscle to make it work, really.

Edge's spear looks good, but it just doesn't work as his finisher when it's used regularly by bigger men. It should be reserved for those once-a-year holy **** moments like when Jeff Hardy was dangling on the belt or when he put Foley through a flaming table.

I think the Big Show had the greatest spears ever during the road to survivor series (dunno when, I think in 2005) where he MURDERED people with it constantly. And how about the one Goldberg gave to Nunzio at the Rumble, when he speared him from corner to corner. Greatest spear ever.
The spear is in general a fine move, but I hate it when opponents f it up (Khali for example).
