personally i think the what chants are funny and i hope they last forever. if i am part of the court its even more fun just because youre doing something together, thats how it is to me anyway. i dont see why people hate it with a passion and think itll be the doom of humanity.

May be the most annoying chant in history to me. Away with it please.

I don't hate them, but I do think at times the crowd is so focused on yelling WHAT?! that they pay absolutely no attention to what is going on. When Austin's involved, great, but it seems weird that it's all the time.

"WHAT?" is awful.
It's starting to die down a bit now, which is a good sign.

"What" is dumb because its so five years ago, Austin hasnt wrestled in about 4 years, and its very distracting. It wasnt even meant to be a "chant", its just Austin's paranoid heel persona
but as long as he keeps making returns every so often (like next Monday), the chant will never go away

I cannot stand the "What" chants, to the point that I want to mute my TV when Vince McMahon is on screen.

The only saving grace about the What chant is that is can be used as a way for the crowd to voice their rejection of something. For example when Mr McMahon goes on a 25 minute tirade about his BS that got old back in 1999, I actually like the crowd to chant "what" because it's like the fans telling WWE "Shut up, we don't care about this."
The problem of course is when a heel is actually doing a GOOD promo, and the crowd is just doing it to be annoying.

The problem with it is that it makes it makes it very difficult to do a lot of promos. Having 10,000 people scream "WHAT?" after every pause you make just screws up what could be a good promo. It completely murders the "feel" of it and any intensity even if they just wait for the chant to stop and go on as they were. But personally, I just find it idiotic. Kids do the same thing with "why?" when they first learn to talk but they grow out of it before they're 6. Yet we've got a mass of grown adults showing the same level of maturity with "what?". It's just embarrassing. It was funny the first few times. It's not funny anymore. Austin, his childish catchphrases, his broken neck, and his battered wives need to go back to 1998 where they belong.

I like how the Undertaker handled it ;D Hogan was pretty clever with it, too. "Crowd- What?" "Hogan- 'Cha gonna do?"

I like how the Undertaker handled it ;D what did he do I'm para[hrasing, but when the fans were chanting "What" incessantly during his promo, he yelled out "Say "What" if you sleep with your sister!" that slowed it down quite a bit

Piper: Try to keep up with me here. <promo continues> Piper: But I beg to differ on one point. Crowd: WHAT? Piper: Well if you'd shut up, I'd tell you. Austin: And what point would that be? Crowd: WHAT? Piper: You can't understand him either? Crowd: WHAT? Piper: That's a yes.

WHAT is a disgraceful chant.
It can ruin the best promo in no time. Even worse when the crowd just shout "what" without even paying attention to what the Superstar is saying.
That's the wrong way of "involvement" IMO. It doesn't add a thing to the promos, it doesn't follow the "train of thoughts" of the Superstar, but it's just a silly way for the fans to get themselves over.
