Please dont flame me for this but I think that the real reason why Vince is hiring these girls arent because of their wrestling abilities and charisma to draw seats. I just think that its for the wrestlers to have something to play with while they are on the road. It can get really lonely on the road and it causes some of their superstars to quit so therefore Vince needed something for them to play with. What does everyone think? I'm coming to this conclusion because other than Beth Phoenix I dont really see any other wrestling talent out there.

I think everyone else has stated similar statements, only replace Vince McMahon with Johnny Ace loves bikini models with big boobs.

I doubt it, myself. It's to appeal to the demographic that, well, makes easily the most money, marketing wise. That's pretty much the whole story.

I don't know so much about having traveling sluts(tho Maria and Michelle McCool AND Ashley Massaro have hooked up with wrestlers...), but I can't see the whole "appealing to the horny male demographic" either. Mainly because of the freaking ABUNDANCE of Divas. There's now more Divas as a whole than the entire roster of ECW.
Is it just me or is that just absurd?

I don't think the women are hired necessarily based on wrestling ability, but I do not think it's a WWE Herim.

They sell calenders, video's and posters. They might get Joe Average to not switch the channel if there's something nice to look at on the screen. Plus, if you're 13 where else can you see boobz? Except the net.

I don't think that Vince is hiring them as sex-slaves, to be honest. There's a long tradition of hot women in skimpy outfits in sports. Think cheerleaders, ring girls, etc. etc. Many of the divas are in the company to appeal to the viewers.
A number of the divas do have an indy background, though. Beth, Mickie, Jillian and Katie Lea (who I think has just been called up) have all wrestled in the indies before coming to the WWE. Similarly, Victoria and Melina are talented wrestlers, although they don't really have the same background and training.

They hire Divas for two reasons:
1. Because they can make money off of big-chested sexpots (see magazines, calenders, DVDs, etc.)
2. Because reason number one is so good, I don't even need a second reason.

To be fair tho almost everyong you named wasn't pulled from the "Diva Search" who's only requirement seems to be "Are you willing to get implants?" "Are you willing to pose in Playboy?" Fixed that for you. LOL @ the theory though. I seriously doubt that's the real reason, but they do need to start getting some women that can actually wrestle instead of just more and more models. If they're ugly... well, pay them enough for a bunch of plastic surgery. Worked for Chyna. He looked like a whole new man after he left the WWE. |
