Oh my super volcano hell! RAW was very, very, bad tonight. I mean the worst I have seen in a long time. And it has not been very good to begin with.
Let me count the ways..
HBK comes out as the newly cross eyed monster, who want to unleash his evil side. HBK is either playing vince, or has become a major fool since his injury.
On a small HBK note, why is he doing flip up's on knees far from 100%?
Vince's choice in his jacket. Vince must have come from a smoky bar direct from 1982. I hope he did not pick that jacket, for if he did I think he needs someone with style to pick from now on. Revolting.
Carlito's continued downfall towards being on the 'F' online shows. Or perhaps only doing his Cabana online. This makes me sad.
Highlanders? Cade and Murdoch? Paul London and Brian Kendrick? 8(
Is this really the state of WWE's Tag Team wrestling?
Diva 'Battle Royal'. So, at 8:59PM I am all excited and hyped up, all things point to Y2J coming back tonight! I expect his return to open the show.
What walks out is a no talent candycane in a cat suit. Oh god, please no. Not while my girlfriend is watching to see just why I am excited about this RAW. ( for Y2J )
Out come more bimbos, erhm, Diva's in absurd suits. Worse, one of the very few Diva's who has talent in the ring is being shamed in a sumo suit. Who's bag did Victora poop in backstage?
While I was watching this debacle, as the crowd was totally dead for the opening segment ( when they should be going wild, if the shows I have been too are any reference point ) my girlfriend started to ask me questions about how exactly wrestling has changed, and when it turned into 'tease porn' as she calls it.
I tried to get her to keep watching, to see the excitement of Y2J's return, but she knows enough about wrestling from me for her to come up with a great insult, she said 'God, give it up already, it's not 1999/2000 anymore'.
Ouch.
Let's get to the meat of the issue. HHH. Yet again he is booked with what for any other wrestler would be a severe beating and loss, a 2 on 1 with Umaga and Orton tornado handicap rules.
Am I the only one who sees the problem here? Just when did HHH rise above 'just' going one on one with someone on his level, like Undertaker, to having to fight 2 or 3 guys, with crippling rules working not to his favor, or both?
They are building him up to be unstoppable. Soon 2 guys won't be a threat to the game, 3 will. Then he will start the matches handcuffed to the ring, with 4 guys wrestling him. He will still win, etc bs bs bs.
It's really getting stupid, and is quickly going to hurt the company and it's thin roster, something HHH and his wife care nothing about, or are so stupid they don't see it.
They then teash Y2J again. Is the live crowd seeing this as well? If so, they were dead, no pop at all, or even low chatter.
You have to understand is that when Santino is your top mic worker, Mick Foley gets no pop at all, and the largest pop of the night is a snippet of Stone Cold's intro video a'la 1998, things are dire.
Now they book Stone Cold actually showing up, and DX 'reforming' ( like they never broke up behind the scenes if you know what I mean kliky kilky.. ) for 'one night only'. This is quite dangerous, reminds me of WCW.
It is 2007, and they are booking a show around guys who were tops 10 years ago or more. Where is the building of the new talent? With a little effort new stars could be made quickly, unless some of the 'older' talent are working to stop that in a greedy fashion. Now we have the Bulldog's son, and Dusty's son, who are getting their first push. How soon will it be before they are 'humbled' to HEAT?
I am being really negative I know. But that is because I have enjoyed this sport/buisness for 21 years, having been pulled in by Hulkamania. I remember not seeing top guys for weeks, if not months at a time. I remember being totally stunned at seeing Hogan on free TV on a Saturday! It meant something, it was a huge deal.
I remember quite clearly every match on a PPV card that was built up for several weeks, if not months felt like a HUGE deal. Even the first match was huge, because the titles meant something. Wrestlers held them for a long time, guarded them well, and they only turned hands in a epic match. Jake Roberts/Savage, Taker/Hogan, Demolition anything, Flair, my god Flair was amazing. Steamboat/Savage. Ringbell to throat.Early Sting, Vader, etc.
I want that back again. Is it just me remembering things better than they actually were, or is my memory correct? Are kids/teens today who are starting to watch in awe, and will gush about 'the good old days' 20 years from now like I am? ( with this trash on TV now )
Sigh. I feel defeated. WWE is like the everlasting dumb summer movie. We all go to see them, for thrills or for the big acting names. But none of them have any depth, and we only realize the hollow feelings later on. WWE is doing this very same thing now.
And what is worse? Has anyone thought about the fact that people who are starting to enjoy the WWE will assume it WAS ALWAYS LIKE THIS, and consider it good, thus as a collective they lower the bar of quality?
Please give me your thoughts, or try to sooth my pain? 8(

Soon HHH isn't going to even bother doing the pedigree anymore. He'll just give them the boot to the stomach and they'll fall over and be pinned.
Guaranteed victory if they turned around to get kicked by surprise.

Tonight's Raw was not very special. Nothing memorable. No highlights.

They never said Y2J was coming back at all. Blame the hype on the internet, not WWE.
My girlfriend.
Victoria likely came up with that herself, she posted about it in her blog and was the polar opposite of the "OMG WWE HATES VICTORIA" reaction some smarks had.
I see nothing wrong with those three tag teams, two of them are great, in fact.
My girlfriend.
Foley got chants.
HHH already beat 5 guys, didn't he? He's getting slightly less invincible!!
Orton and Umaga are not "guys who tops 10 years ago".

What's wrong with that? The Highlanders are iffy, but the other two teams are absolutely brilliant.

The Highlanders are iffy, but the other two teams are absolutely brilliant. The division is kinda small. That's the problem. I wish that WWE could steal talent from TNA like Motor City Machine Guns and LAX.

The weakest Raws tend to be the ones after PPV's, or at least that seems to be the current trend.

On a small HBK note, why is he doing flip up's on knees far from 100%? He was doing them on a nightly basis BEFORE his knee surgery, why wouldn't he do it now that they're HEALTHY?!

It's "decent" as far as drek goes. It's not as bad as it has been, as far as I'm concerned. The "really bad" will resurface. It's the E. Isn't DX reforming next week? And there you go...

I agree, but I think that only the champions should have to preside over all the shows if booked. Example: Cade & Murdoch could show up on Smackdown! if they are booked for a title match. If they lost them (to say, Jesse & Festus?) then they would return to Raw, while Jesse & Festus would preside over the shows as booked.

It was not that awful, but it was a little bit of a let down. Sadly enough, I felt that the show peaked with the diva royale. I did not like Victoria in the sumo suit for the costume contest, but I laughed for damn near the whole match as she did her best Yokozuna imitation (several people in the crowd noticed it as well). I also got a kick out of Beth destroying Kelly (after two of the heels tossed her back in). Unfortunately, that was the only part of the show that seemed to be particularly inspired. Nothing truly reeked (especially not Cade, Murdoch, and anyone associated with them last night), but nothing was mind blowing either.
