Haas can cut a reasonable promo, but Shelton is marble-mouthed... I was totally in favour of Shelton's momma... I do find it ironic that now people are saying they liked her, when at the time it was mostly "GAH! THIS IS ASININE! SHELTON IS SERIOUS BIZNIZ!". The thing is, I mostly liked it because it gave Shelton the TV time. In the old NWA days, Shelton probably would've been majorly over as a babyface. He's got a strong amateur background, and he can do the big highspots. He's got both bases covered. I recently watched the match between Shelton and Christian from the 2005 Survivor Series, and I think that match should've been a classic. It would've been in the old days, because Shelton and Christian played the babyface and heel roles perfectly. It's just that that's not what most fans look for nowadays. They want "sports entertainment" and to a point I don't blame them. Still, in terms of classic pro wrestling psychology, that Shelton/Christian match was a masterpiece.

I wonder if Shelton will ever be forgiven. As I recall, he was jobbed out and then given Momma because he had a bad attitude backstage. And here he is today, still jobbing out to everyone on the roster. Amazing how far he fell, when WWE so clearly had grand plans for him once upon a time. Will he ever be forgiven for being a dick?
