Current Tag Division

As a mark for tag team wrestling I just have to say I'm annoyed to the point of turning off at times, by the current state of the tag division in WWE.

Just take a look at the current options across all brands.

Cade & Murdoch
London & Kendrick
The HEELanders
TWGTT
The Majors
Deuce & Domino
Jesse and Festus

Thats 7 teams competing for 2 sets of belts across 2 brands. One set of which is being held by two feuding wrestlers, and being kept away from any tag team.

Maybe throw Bobcore Holly & Cody Rhodes and apparently from Heat...*shudders* Jim Duggan & Super Crazy, that makes 9. You could perhaps throw Kane and 'Taker in there, but could you honestly see ANY of the teams listed above believably going over them? I doubt that.

Of the 9 (at a stretch) teams, only 3 of them are anything like useful in the ring. Cade/Murdoch, London/Kendrick and TWGTT, and the latter 2 teams have been booked to the point of people not caring about them, despite the fact they can put on some of the best matches the fed has to offer. Holly and Rhodes could be a useful team, but thats only to give Rhodes some TV time until they split and feud, to get Cody over for a possible IC push.

Notice anything else about those teams? They're all on Raw! Smackdown doesn't even have an established team thats been on TV for more than a year. That does not a division make.

Any ideas on how WWE could rectify this? Aside from start caring about those belts that is.

LAX, The Briscoes, and Motor City Machine Guns would all be useful acquisitions, but as a ROHbot, I dread the idea of Shelley, Sabin, Homicide and the Briscoes being buried in OVW or FCW.

I agree. They need to make the belts important again. Back in the day you had Tag Belts as a main part of the card. Now it's just filler on TV or sometimes doesn't even make TV.

Why not put some guys that have been on top, pair them up but keep them together for a couple years, and give them the belts for 2 years straight. Then people will start to care because they will wonder when there going to lose.

What could it hurt? The divison already sucks.

Maybe they should put all of the tag teams into one brand into a single tag team division and unify the tag team championships.

I want Deuce and Domino on RAW. I don't care what anybody says; they have the best theme, their gimmick is surprisingly entertaining (like the plesant shock of Carlito's debut), they have that old, no nonsense, smash mouth style that I love and Crack Em In Da Mouth always gets a reaction from the fans!

Move 'em to RAW, get Cherry as involved as she was back in OVW (which will really get them over) and put 'em in the WORLD Tag Team Championship scence.... Just get rid of the Smackdown! Tag titles, everything London/Kendrick and then Deuce/Domino did for them is getting pissed away! The titles aren't even being defended anymore, just like the US title.

Just get rid of Smackdown and ECW. I've said it before there's not enough star power to run 3 shows

They could unify them and float them across the three brands, that would help. Sorry, but I can agree with the Greaser love. I think they're appalling in the ring.

The only problem with putting two random guys together is that they are inevitably going to split after not very long, for singles work, which just devalues the titles and division further.

the tag title should be higher up the card than the US and IC belts, if you ask me. make sure that it's defined as a team-orientated thing, rather than just being two great singles wrestlers together. play up the fact that tag wrestling is totally different to singles. do that by hiring more guys with good double-teaming abilities, and only have thrown together teams every now and then (the matt/mvp team is entertaining as hell, but that kind of angle should anly happen very rarely. i love the way they're booking it though, with the two becoming mroe and more like a cohesive unit day by day, but still hating one another).

The brand split is not ending. Stop dreaming, people.

Moore Wang is another potential team on the current roster that could be put in the Blue show title hunt.

As for Baldcore and Cody, I think it's pretty obvious they're intended to tag for a while.

The title-worthy teams on both shows are probably only:
Londrick
Cadeoch
MVP/Hardy
Deuce & Domino
J & F once they get some more wins under their belts - they should take their time with this team

As for the original topic: does the tag division suck? Yeah, but what else is new...
