i wouldnt sell "real" fans short about something like thsi. thanks to our old friend the internet, anyone who wants to can find out about a wrestlers past.
most fans just arent interested. they watch a few years when they are young, and grow out of it. i know when i first started watching i didnt know anything prior to hogan, but later i wanted to know a little more of the history. if i grew out of it, my ignorance would have remained.
plus the video tribute did a decent job of focusing on her real career, not the crazy stuff toward the end.
