The problem with Austin, is the fact that even the markiest of marks knows he can't wrestle anymore. So his appearances are pointless. At least Hogan and the other Legends attempt to work matches.

By the way that stunner sell was perfect. On a scale of Linda McMahon being absolute zero, where does it rank on the list of all time great Stunner Sells? Something like 8 or 9.

I love Santino's mic work, but I hate when people call him the "next" Rock. Not only is his ring work below par, but he's far too small for Vince McMahon to ever push him hard, he's like Tazz's size.

I think we all have nothing but good things to say about Santino. What I really appreciate about the guy is the fact that he is a heel, a real heel… just like in the olden days of wrestling. The guy reminds me of The Million Dollar Man, or The Honky Tonk Man. He seems to just “get” how to be the bad guy.
So who cares if he doesn’t know a million wrestling moves. He’s the only one on the roster that I’d be able to sit through a 20 minute long promo and NOT get bored to death. That really means a lot, considering how dried up the WWE currently is.

Cutting through the weird gushy Santino love for a second, you gotta wonder if his promos actually helped move Condemned DVDs.
I'm glad to hear he might be well-liked (if the NEWZ is TRUEZ), either way.

Man, moving up in the company, dating Maria.... The Newz has been great to Santino.

I've said this before, but I don't think he'll ever be a main eventer, His wrestling skills are bad and he's not the right size for Vince. Usually a main eventer in WWE has to have at least one of these qualities. That and his comedy gimmick. His fake accent is ridiculous. I do find him entertaining but its a sad fact that he's the best thing on Raw.

Good stuff, without a doubt. Kindda sad he's destined to never receive a decent push to the top, but at least he's good enough to make RAW pretty darn entertaining (which, last time I checked, was the whole point of the "new" "sports entertainment" side of things).

I actually kind of agree with an earlier post about Santino possibly becoming the next Roddy Piper. It kind of fits if you compare the two.

It's not really a problem if Santino can't become a Main Eventer... Actially I think it's BETTER if he won't get pushed that high on the card.
WWE has lacked midcarders who were consistently over with the crowd for a long time now. Finally it seems like WWE remembered how to push Superstars without burning them with a premature main event shot, hoping for the best.
Now we got both Hardys, MVP, Kennedy, Morrison, Punk, Umaga... sure, some of them have been or will be involved in some angle for the Big Belts, but if it's una tantum it's ok.
WWF/E was at its best when the midcard was solid and talented, filled with Superstars the crowd cared about.
Santino won't be the next Rock? Great, we need the next HonkyTonk Man even more.

it would be great if they still had the euro title, or some other kind of "third rate" belt. have santino win it, but act as if its the most prestigious thing in the world. maybe even make one up, like the 'north jersey junior light cruiserweight tv champion' or something. any title belt will add more arrogance to his character.

I'm not surprised at the lack of pop Austin got. Foley's crowd pops have not been that earth moving either lately.
I am guessing it's because this is the year 2007 and fans are moving on.

Not everyone should be a main eventer.

i mark for santino. hes easily the best thing on Raw IMO. hes got a ton of charisma and potential
having said that, i wouldnt mind if Santino was never a main eventer. Honestly i think it'd be hilarious if he just keeps on bragging about how he used to be intercontinental champion-a.

Santino doesn't need to be a world champion to be entertaining. Maybe another IC title run down the line but for now he's sorted

I like Santino and like it's been said before he should be nothing more than a mid-card comedy heel. He's not going to be the next Rock but he does his job well.

I like Santino, but that doesn't mean he should be a main eventer (let alone Champ) because he makes me laugh.

I think the small reaction for Austin was because people were expecting another fake-out before he came out.
Santino comes out boasting about how Austin isn't there and he isn't coming. He did the same thing last week. The music goes off and people remember last week and the fake-out. Finally, when Austin ACTUALLY walks out, there is a reaction. Not the biggest thing, but they were caught off guard.
That is how I'd explain it to Vince in order to get more power...er I mean, that's what I think the reason is.
