I just got off the phone with My uncle who's 63. I'm 21, and he was the first person that ever got me into wrestling when I was little, and it was a "sport" he had enjoyed his entire life. As sort of an off hand comment I said, "You hear about Moolah?" he's not really into the internet, and usually falls a sleep before raw these days, so he hadn't heard and was actually very upset.
It made me realize what a force in wrestling this woman was. As a younger viewer, I sort of saw her as a comedy act, but over the course of the history of wrestling, she may be in the top 5 most important figures ever(I know that's a stretch, but what other constants have there been over the past 40 years of wrestling). The woman was champion for 22 years!
I'm not sure what I'm saying here, just sort of recording my feelings, maybe more for myself then anything else.

I always enjoyed watching her, and yea she was considered a comedy act of sorts there at the end and she(and a whole lot of other legends for that matter) simply do not need to be booked that way

Just by the treatment alone, no one really knows how much that woman really meant to Vince.

I think having her involved in the comedy bits was a nod for all she's done. Sure they were cheesy and in terrible taste, but in the end, she looked like she was having fun and she got an appearance fee. And from all reports, they just loved having her around.

Yeah, the comedy stuff that Moolah did with Mae Young over the past few years is really not a representation of what she spent the majority of her career doing. She spent the vast majority of her career being an old school heel. Of course back then it wasn't considered old school... so I suppose they considered her a "current school heel". In any case, the fans loved to despise her and she was great in her role.
