So SHAD is gonna be the last regular-roster guy in IGN's countdown? That some excellent planning. \ Jeez already? Usually the countdown last until a week before release. Also usually there was 50 current roster wrestlers...and 10 legends. wtf happened this year? Don't forget the legends get countdowns too.

edit- scratch that, I'm DONATING the money to PWX. I think you meant to say WASTING money. Because paying $60 for the same game year after year is fiscally conservative.

Don't forget the legends get countdowns too. Oh yes I know, they usually get done in 2 days. What I'm saying is usually we get a game of 60 characters. this year we get like what 53?

I'm not going to think that somebody who willingly admits they almost lost all their funding and would've had to close down is then going to say "our product is awesome" when it isn't. For the record, they never said their product is awesome, in fact they've willingly admitted the fact that they have to have an upgrade system and right now are planning to get just the basic conceptual product out rather than make the ultimate wrestling game instantly. I have never had any reason to believe they're bullcrapting us about what they're trying to do, and I don't see how you could think so either. Seems narrow minded to assume independent developers are liars

It's not like the guy is feeding a slush fund or anything. Dave's still fighting the good fight. He came from where we are, from our frustrations, and I'm willing to back that all the way to the end, one way or the other. You can believe the project isn't going to come out. That's great. Don't buy into it then. Don't read the newsletter. Don't buy the demo. And don't keep spreading snarky better-than-thou mindsets when there's no real harm being done to people. There's a reason why the rallying cry for this game is "Believe".

I think you meant to say WASTING money. Because paying $60 for the same game year after year is fiscally conservative. uhhh... that was kinda the point I was trying to make. Really, my only demands for '08 were that they didn't half-ass Sabu. Nevermind all the other problems the series has ALWAYS had, because those are never going to be fixed... and I mean never. The SVR engine will be abandoned LONG before it's ever perfected. And WWE will never intercede on our behalf unless the games stop selling, otherwise, the game is just another crappy, cheap piece of merch no different to the WWE than a Rey mask or that Batista toy monster truck. But still, if THQ's not gonna put any effort into fixing the AI or recalibrating how much damage a guy can take or actually expanding CAW, then they had damn-well better make sure all the stupid useless crap they put into the game works like it should. And if THQ is gonna cut 20 wrestlers from the roster (as compared to '07) then they better make sure the pithy 50 that deigned to include are smurfing complete. And already, they took away Nitro's coat, JTG's entrance attire, Regal's robe. So it's not lookin good for Sabu's ghutra. And to me, that's goddamn inexcuseable. Has anyone here ever seen a Sabu match where he doesn't wear that thing to the ring? It would just sorta be that last straw, especially considering that they actually bothered to figure out a way to do most of his moves (except I haven't seen Air Sabu). To be so close to having a perfect, complete Sabu with an accurate moveset for the first time in a game that's actually visually compelling, and then to smurf it all to hell 'cause some asshole at THQ wanted to cut corners... My original point was, if THQ proved themselves to be so incompetant, so lazy, so uncaring, then I WOULD rather waste my money on something I'll get no return on, and mail THQ the receipts!

I think this is the first year I won't but a WWE game at launch.
This will be a $20.00 buy.
Hell, I still haven't even played hardly a few matches of SVR2007 yet and I bought that the day it arrived at Game Crazy... or was it GameStop?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not this big defender of the series and I certainly don't think you're wrong by any aspect. The game certainly has its problems. I just wanted to say although all your complaints are valid. Its just not going to happen. THQ and WWE cannot supply a product that EVERYONE is going to be 100% happy with, there is always something thats going to be wrong through someone else's point of view. Despite how great everyone seems to think HCTP was (which..well, it was) there were still somethings missing durings its release as far as attire goes(Goldberg had his old attire, Randy Orton had those old stupid blue bike shorts). Gameplay I can't say for sure as I haven't played it in a long time. I'm not saying this because I dislike the game and because I think THQ seems to be the video game company equilivent of Satan, I just think its kinda hard for one product to make everyone happy. The absence of Morrison's coat is a bit confusing..but its not a major issue to me. His name change? Also not a major issue (and I LOVE John Morrison)..If they tried to keep the game up-to-date..it would probably never be released seeing as how often things change in WWE from day-to-day..injuries, releases, gimmick changes and heel turns..its just a fact of the company. That being said, I will be buying the game because I enjoy having a wrestling game for my 360 and I still find the series fun. Maybe Midway will produce an excellent TNA game and I'll switch over..who knows? I'd rather have THQ making this game then go back in time and have to play RAW and Attitude with six-button finishers, while my character bleeds from his back..rather then pressing one button..and seeing an RKO.

So I finally got my PS3 online, been playing 2007 on there. It's a ton of fun, even with the occasional cheap people. Last night I got called an "Autowinning noob" and told to "Rot in hell" because I crushed some ICP clone CAW as Angle. It's not my fault that my friend invented the best tap method ever.

That is true. Compared to the Acclaim games, the controls are much better. Then again, most any game controls better than those games. But that's not the point. As good as the game can be, it comes up short in many other facets, and it seems like THQ is unwilling or unable to fix those. It's their job to sell this game as being the BEST WRESTLING GAME EVER!!!...except it's not, and some of us know that.

It's not my fault that my friend invented the best tap method ever. What kind of method is that? My preferred button-mashing technique in the PS2 Smackdown games was to hold down all the shoulder buttons and spin both the D-pad and the four action buttons in opposite directions. I won tons of matches that way and, if my memory is correct, never tapped out once after figuring it out. I still employ a similar method on the Xbox 360, but it's not quite as effective at making guys tap.

Basically, you put a thumb in the middle of the D Pad and the face buttons, and your index and middle fingers on the two shoulder buttons. Push down all the face buttons as well as you can and tap with your shoulder button fingers. It's proven deadly online.

Here's a new image from IGN. FYI: 4/13/97 was the Barely Legal PPV, where after defeatinng Sandman and Richards in a 3-Way Dance, Terry Funk defeated Raven to win the ECW Title. I think I'm going to like Hall of Fame mode.
