#1) The Benoit family tragedy #2) Owen Hart dies #3) Eddie Guerrero dies.
The rest of the list doesn't matter.

Goldust.
Damn, did people get bent out of shape when he debuted. And to think Dustin wanted to take the character further, but Vince was afraid of the backlash. So he neutered it.

The first thing that popped in my head when I read the title was the Pillman/Austin gun incident. I dont think there was anything that over the top before then. kinda set the tone for the Attitude Era

How about the Lenny Lane and Lodi "are they or aren't they" thing? Didn't WCW get some heat from the media for that?

"How about the Lenny Lane and Lodi "are they or aren't they" thing? Didn't WCW get some heat from the media for that?"
I believe there were protests against the gimmick?
Well if they protested that they might as well have protested the makeup caked Adrian Adonis years before that. Why didnt they protest Billy and Chuck years later?
They chose to pick on one gimmick and yet it didn't do anything to ever stop such a gimmick from coming around again. A lost pursuit that should have never been started.
What did WCW have to do but take them off TV or something for six months?
Big deal there.

How Vince wrestling (and beating) God? I'm sure more than a few people got bent out of shape on that one.

There was never anyone by that name, it was all in your imagination . Don't you mean Bob Holly? Benoit's been "Scarlet Witch'd" ('cause compared to "RETCON PUNCH'D~!", she's been underused). But anyway, back on topic. *That Torrie-Dawn Marie-Al thing that went on for way too long *Austin's walkout in 2002 and before Taboo Tuesday 2005 (the latter which I feel is justified) *Kent Jones (who claims to be "controversial", yet he's "shooting" blanks)
