On the latest WWE edition of What If? They asked what if the roles were reveresed in the Montreal screwjob and shawn was the one who was screwed. When they asked Trips comment he said, That never would have happened. We're nt that stupid. www.wwe.com/inside/whatif/whatifmontreal/ And let the Trip hate once again commence

I think he meant Bret's not that evil as the King of Kings and his minion, Jesus.

I thought it was funny. I am sure there is some truth to his thinking, however if you read these most are done in character. Take it for what it's worth

You know what irks me is the whole "It's just business" BS the King says here and McMahon has said elsewhere. When McMahon screws somebody it's just business. When the "outside world" questions Vince or Ted Turner goes against him "It's personal."
Guess what, nimrods: You do this performance art 24/7. The personal IS the business. They are the same thing. You don't punch a clock, you live it. It's both. Take some damned responsibility for your actions for once.

they did it's just business, they were protecting their asses from another Medusa incident.
Vince did the right thing, and the whole thing sparked a lot more interest into WWe.
Best thing to happen in pro wrestling.

I like how he says that "WE" wouldn't have let that happen. Um, who's "WE"? You weren't even any major part of the company then, Trips. You were pretty much a nobody and would stay that way until after Bret and Shawn were both gone from the company. Should have stayed that way because by all accounts, you suck.

HHH would have been out of a job if the roles were reversed. His spent all of that era as being Shawn's little hanger-on. If Shawn would have been gone HHH would have been gone inside 6 months.

He should have trusted Bret not to take the title over. Vince was too damn paranoid.

Backstabbing to cover one's own ass or to gain an advantage over others is the cornerstone of all successful businesses. It's as Americana as apple pie or bald eagles, which strangely enough have also have known to describe women's va-jay-jays.

He should have trusted Bret not to take the title over. Vince was too damn paranoid. Bret should have went out on his back willingly. Still don't get how it makes sense to let bret win on PPV, then he relinquishes the belt on RAW, then he goes to WCW the next month without ever losing the WWE title. THat's always bugged me. If Bret was such a pro, and if he knew how the business worked. Why didn't he just let business be business and go out on his back putting HBK over? why would he fight about this? If Bret was going to retire for good, yeah maybe, but even then it devalues the belt. All in all I'm happy with the way things turned out. D-X became the biggest heels in the company after ridding it of the biggest heel in Bret Hart, Mr. McMahon was born, and everything came up gold

For the amount of money Bret made in WCW for doing basically nothing, I think he could've reacted better to having to lose a predetermined title. I remember reading an article by Bad News Allen/ Brown where he called Bret a cry baby for dwelling on the Screwjob for so long, basically saying it was a crappy deal but Bret was in such a great position in the first place. Guys like Bad News never made that sort of money, reached that level of fame, or could even conceive of negotiating how they were to leave.

Was that supposed to be funny? Triple H just leaves that one line and that's it? What a prick.
