I didn't know about it until years later. I was a WCW mark at the time and didn't watch WWE and didn't care for the internet. When Bret showed up, I was thinking, man, they're getting more and more of the big WWF stars.

You see, this is exactly why I wish WWE 24/7 had their "Monday Night Wars" right in line. They're 10 years and 7 months behind. Not too long ago, they were synced up with exactly 10 years. Then they just did 2 a month. Pisses me off. If they would do a new one every week so we could get an accurate timeline, we could all relive that moment here soon.

I watched a lot of PPVs at my friend's house because his mom worked for the cable company and they got them either free, or at a very steep discount. SS was one of the ones I missed that year, but I was watching RAW and Nitro every Monday (and I think ECW at like 3AM lol), and got to see the fallout from the incident.

I don't remember exactly what I was doing, but it probably involved smokin' and drinkin' with my friends somewhere.

Watched it on PPV. Sorta kinda knew what was happening but I thought it was a work and that Bret would come back the next night and start a long feud with HBK and DX. At the time, there were a few wrestling websites, but nothing like today. Very few people actually knew what had happened. The next day, it was all over message boards, so thats when I put 2 and 2 together.

I was watching it on Pay per view. I remember once the ref called for the bell, i was angry and confused. Angry because of the messed up finish, and confused when Bret spelled out WCW. Once my smark friend (the next day) filled me in on what had just happened, I became an internet smark. *sigh*

Oh well, even with the ending, that was one hell of a good match. HBK was HATED by the fans. I remember when they were fighting in the crowd, and fans were throwing punches at Shawn. Yet, Bret did nothing to stop them. ;D
