Wii-ware is going to be their version of X-box live arcade basically...
A place for programmers to put games that usually aren't big enough to be sold in stores... I don't know how to explain it better then that...
No idea on cost.

This still has me a little confused, it won't be a VC game, but a wii-ware game? I have yet to see any games on the wiiware section, and what will it cost? Sorry if I sound lost, but I am just a "casual" gamer WiiWare launches in March (in Japan for sure, probably worldwide) Some of the games announced for it include: Pokémon Bokujō Channel (a "ranch" for your Pokemon from D&P to play in with your Miis or something) Dr. Mario & Bacteria Extermination (online Dr. Mario, along with some minigame that was featured in Big Brain Academy) Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Young King and the Promised Land (A simulation game where you are a child-king and order peasants around) Magnetica Bomberman Star Soldier R Pricing isn't announced, but I'd expect them to cost between $10-15, varying by game. did it say if it's exclusive to Wii Virtual Console, or is there a possibility it could also be released on Xbox Live Arcade? Well if it uses the N64 rom of No Mercy, then yeah it'd be WiiWare exclusive. But if it's a from the ground up remake, then it probably could come to XBLA or PSN, but the rumor doesn't say.

It seems like it could happen to me.
THQ obviously knows there is a die hard fanbase of No Mercy, they talk it up all the time when trying to sell their new crap to us.
Legally they can't release WWF No Mercy on Virtual Console, what with all the wrestlers who WWE don't have right to include in games/as toys/etc, so they'd have to alter it a bunch, which is what this rumor seems to be saying.
I'm not sure it WILL happen, but it seems like a logical way for THQ to get a piece of the Wii Shop Channel pie. I can't think of what else they'd put on there that'd sell better.

Um, you all understand that "Quartermann" is EGM/1UP's resident "Rumors/Gossip/Bulls***" guy, right? Don't get your hopes set too high for this.

Even if it doesn't happen, I would honestly be happy if we just got the standard No Mercy released its original form on the virtual console. That would make me happy enough right there.

Okay, here's my take.
1. THQ has no games on Wii Store.
2. Licensing: I'm sure there are problems here, namely that the WWF doesn't have the Video game rights to most of it's 2000 roster. Roster updates sure, but still. This of course, can be negated by that whole "Empire Wrestling Federation" trick from revenge.

1. THQ has almost no games that aren't licensed IP and/or horrible games. Not too attractive for Virtual Console. People aren't salavating to play Quest 64 on Wii.
2. The rumor says new rosters, so the old roster wouldn't factor in.

I can't see this happening. As awesome as this news sounds. They might as well just make a whole new game with the same engine. It would be too much work just to update the roster.

It would be a lot more work to build a new game actually. Porting the engine over to run on Wii without emulation would be more complicated. And I wouldn't trust them to do that right. They've claimed to "recreate" the feel of No Mercy so many times, and fallen flat.
If this is an update of the N64 game, emulated in the same manner as Virtual Console games, then I'd figure it'd be pretty simple. If hobbyist hackers can make stuff like that TNA vs ROH game using just their computers and the rom, I'd imagine a team of professionals, with access to the original code, and dev kit could churn out an update pretty easially.

Lets hope they give JR and Lawler and Taker (and linda for that matter) their REAL music and not just the raw theme. Commentary would be neat as well.

Err.....that might mean they'd take out the Rock and his dirty 'quick taunt'!
Also, it'd be a little weird having to press up on the C stick to get in and out of ring rather than UP-C.....
But as long as 6-8 men can play, and they make it run fast, and you have blood AND save, and full videos, t'd rock.

I just want to be able to download Goldeneye on my Wii. That would own, and I don't think I'd ever leave the house.
