I think you need to wait before you do a book on something like this. Moral problems aside, we still do not know the full effect this will have on the wrestling industry.

If this is Muchnick's thing, then I'll more than likely pick it up. Yeah, because he's proved himself to be a trustworthy and reliable journalist with no vendetta against WWE whatsoever. It's not Phil Mushnick.

I'm sick all together of the name Benoit being drug through the mud. I've had mental health issues myself, and I know how bad things can get if you don't have help. I never hurt anyone else, but I did plenty of damage to myself before getting help. I'm not saying it's okay to kill people, but Chris Benoit was a good man who became sick, and what happened to him was the equivolent of being posessed. He wasn't driving when last June's events took place. Nancy and Daniel are priority victims, but Chris was a victim of himself.

Ok.....let's start with A.
A) If you haven't read the book, quit critizing it.
B) Click the link I posted to a review of the book. It's a series of essays on the career of Benoit, th media coverage surrounding the murders and what's best known about the last days of the Benoits lives.
Also, please don't take my word for this book being in the pipeline since two weeks after the murders. I just pulled that number out of my ass. I don't know the exact timeline, but it was very, very, very close to the events when the book was announced.

One of the people involved once claimed that Randy Orton attempted multiple suicides and that the Legend Killer was born when it was revealed that he killed Eddie Guerrero. If someone can make those statements, then it is safe to assume that the book will be poorly researched.

The book wasn't that bad, really. I wish it were a little LONGER, but the stuff that was in there was interesting. It wasn't really all, "well what happened here, we're going to try and find out," it did a good job summarizing all the brouhaha that surrounded it from day one, from the tribute show on Monday and the changing gears the next night when more information came out, to the field day the media had with the tragedy and how quickly it fell off the map after the toxicology results were released, to the impact Benoit's death will have on the industry, etc.

Seen it at Barnes n' Noble when I went to pick up the PWHF the Heels (which is great). Didn't bother looking at the Benoit book, not because I'm against it, just that I don't want to read a book filled with half-facts and speculation.

Nobody will care in 30 years.
Put out a book now and make whatever money you can.

At least it's not one of those rushed TV movies with Joe Piscopo as Benoit and Meridith Baxter-Birney as Nancy. Keep waiting.

Nobody will care in 30 years. Put out a book now and make whatever money you can. You know, a mother and child are dead here. It's not really about whether or not they legally can. Of course they can, it's a free country. But I wouldn't be comfortable buying their book and effectively rewarding them for being unethical and eager to make a quick buck on the back of such a tragedy.

How is this any different than all the books about Scott Peterson, or Jon-Bennett Ramsey?
Many of them were released mere weeks after the events in question.

No problems here. Journalism is mostly people who have no first hand knowledge of an event that do credible research. For instance, no one has first hand knowledge of the assassination of President Lincoln, but through interviews and research, have been able to shed light on the event from a forensic perspective no one in the 1800's could have done.
Regarding the family drama this book may induce, it is unfortunate, but the authors certainly have the right to publish it. Just like we have the right to not support it by not buying it.

Because you never watched Scott Peterson or Jon-Bennett wrestle. Seriously, it's because people saw Benoit on TV and feel like they know him personally. Some people are way, way too attatched to fictional characters.
