I have a theory. It's not a liked one, but here it is. Randy Orton...he never had this "it" everyone thinks he had once the concussion angle started. Because what was it really? just him with a new concept of the RKO idea, same stupid pushups, same blank face, same general apathy. People only thought he had "it" because Cena was champ and didn't want Cena to be champ anymore. Well here we are, no more Cena, lights on bright, and...Orton sucks. Can't promo, can't emote, can't get people to care about his stupid pushups before the RKO. He has to get paired with McMahon, or Edge, to get people to care. And hell, when he was with Edge he made Edge seem downright boring at times. Simply put, the booking is perfectly fine, it's Orton who's not able to carry his part of the angle. I disagree for one aspect. If Orton WAS stronger the bad booking wouldn't hurt him. They shouldn't book a rather emotional angle for a guy who looks like he's about to take a nap or has uncomfortable constipation. The booking would work great for Cena, or hell even Batista(sad I know, but least Batista can act angry). For Randy he's already at a loss because he can't convey anything convincingly. Since they have to have realized it by now the booking is also a little off. Well yes, it's bad booking in the sense that they gave somebody with all the charisma and charm of the cactus an angle where he has to be emotional. But hey, he's the champ, and if I recall people who have charisma are world champ material so what the hell is Orton doing here?

its funny that this is brought up because of the fact that most of us wanted Orton to take the title from Cena, and now that Orton has the title, he's basically acting like he doesnt want to be champ, the way he acts when he's on tv he's always lookin sad

However, from Randy's current reign, I'd take Cena back with open arms.

I said that while watching No Mercy when I saw him come down to accept the belt I was like "why does he look like this is the worst thing to ever happen to him?"

The Randy Orton from the Cena feud that showed emotion and was actually interesting seems like a long time ago now.

Am I the only one who forgets every day who the champion is? Randy Orton and creative have done nothing to make me feel like he's the champ. He doesn't act like one and he certainly does nothing to make me remember his actions on Raw the next day. Does he lack credibility due to HBK superkicking his face off every week? Or is the guy just really boring? Boring. Uninspired. Randy Orton.

Probably because he already knew how he would be booked, at least in general. But the fact is that HBK can punk Orton all he wants on Raw, but can Orton be booked in a way that says, "I win when it counts?"

If Orton loses this Sunday he will be the least accomplished two-time champ of all time.

As such they (creative) don't dare try to develop his reign into something more, because if they did it might upset the plan to reinstall Cena as champion immediately upon his return.

If Orton loses this Sunday he will be the least accomplished two-time champ of all time. This is Orton's third title reign. Now just think about that for a second.

I've been thinking an awful lot about the stoic Orton. We've seen him emote before, and even come off as refreshingly psychotic. So why nothing now? Is he really screwing up? Wouldn't someone be fired and/or beaten senseless by Taker for becoming champion and then not caring on live television?
So here's my speculation.
He WOULD still be the psychotic heel if he actually won the title from Cena. But instead he was handed the title. And then he won it from a thoroughly defeated HHH. While I applaud HHH for personally putting over his protege, this still left a nasty taste in the fans' mouths. By not winning it from Cena, he shouldn't be champion, in the strict markish kayfabe sense. So his new persona, which is even working on internet fans (like everything else whether you admit it or not), is "I'm champion, now deal with it." He doesn't have to care, and it makes a lot of people furious.

There was a good amount of Orton hate in the Raw thread last night. He deserved it, but still.
