I don't know NFL players but all of those sound about right to me.

The Boz wasn't a no talent. He entered the NFL with shoulder problems. And that Bo play wasn't because Boz was bad, it is that Bo was the greatest running back in the NFL for that brief period of time. No other RB had that combo of speed and power.
As far as Orton goes, to call him a bust is ludicrous. Did you see that LMS match at No Mercy?

Randy Orton is the Randy Orton of the WWF: he defies categorization under any other name.
(And when did it go back to being the WWF?)

The Future. The dude can sell, and make his opponent look like they matter. That is what it takes. If you make others look better...you understand the point of professional wrestling.

I think from an in ring standpoint he's been great: his matches with HHH at no mercy were very good, as was his match at cyber sunday (bad ending aside). He's one of, if not they, best sellers in the company.
Granted, the promo skills aren't great, but at least he doesn't come out with some poorly delivered, ridiculous stuff about his dad's uncle or basketballs.

The thing that I DO like about his promos is that he does not try to do more than he is able. He keeps his promos intense and focused. He may not pop a crowd with what he says...but he does not blatantly show himself to be a fish out of water. I think it was Paul Heyman that said something about highlighting a guy's positives...and hiding a guy's negatives. That, to me...is Randy Orton.

I actually think Orton has the potential to be very good on his promos, it's not like lashley or Benoit on the mic where you know there's no hope of that person ever being good.
I think part of the problem is he's usually put in segments with great talkers (Edge, Cena, HBK) which further highlights the fact he's only average, But honestly, if you put him in a segment with Batista or Lashley or Shelton Benjamin you'd realise that he's not that bad.

He's not that bad on the mic. But, I disagree with your reasoning. Even when he's went solo, he's shown signs of nervousness that lead to him fumbling his lines. He's called or almost called WWE as WWF a couple of times, which is pretty weird since he's a current superstar and not an old timer.

What's with the Boz hate?
How can anyone hate someone who starred in Stone Cold? That movie is epic.

So basically the solution is to put Orton in mic battles against people who either also can't speak, have a silly-sounding voice, or also went to the "HHH School of Learning-uh to talk-uh like the game-uh" ...I almost feel like Chris Matthews should be yelling right now.

Not exactly. I'm not saying you should put him in there solely with guys like Lashley, Shelton and Batista, but if you did, you'd see the difference between merely being average and being embarressingly bad. Is he great on the mic? No. But he's not the worst talker in that company either. Not by a long shot.
