Seriously, 24/7 Mode should be inducted to Wrestlecrap. Seconded, this year's mode is just awful. I fight my behind off to get a spot as the number one contender and already dream about getting the big belt after about four weeks, but then, Coachman and Steph turn Raw into American Idol, because there's a film to be made! And then there are nonsensical cutscenes after the matches. Yeah, I just beat the snot out of Carlito and won a first blood match, but this don't stops him from celebrating with the crowd (because he's a heel) while my guy rolls out of the ring, holding his head and acting like Mike Foley just beat him with a frying pan. It's just frustrating.

Aside from the unintentionally hystical 24/7 mode, anybody getting it tomorrow?
I'll check out Target for it after class tomorrow, I'm curious about what the free WWE DVD is.

Just played a match, MVP vs. Hardy, and after I unintentional hit the ref. I had Matt in a northern lights suplex for the pin, since the ref. was down, I had to wait for a good 6 seconds before the count starts, IMVP held that position for the 6 seconds down time all the way for the pin.

The game has some positive points, i'm liking the fact that there is a little bit more skill required to play actual matches (not much, but a bit), and the graphics are impressive in places.
However: - The commentary is laughable, a complete waste of time as usual, why they don't take it out to save space for more slots on the roster is beyond me. Note to Cory Ledesma - NO ONE WANTS IT!!!! - 24/7 mode is the worst season mode so far. The same animations repeat in between matches over and over again (acceptable back when the series was on PSone), the storylines are awful, and bear absolutely no correlation to what actually happens in the story - I win number one contender for the title, then expect to be facing Edge the following month, and I end up in a fued over a film role with Booker T. - The confusing control system. Yes, the game does require a little more skill to play, BUT, was there really any need to change it again? I lost the above fued with Booker T because as I went to nail him with the Twist of Fate, I pressed the wrong button to activate my Smackdown! and he started pummelling me, leading to a Book End which finished the match. - The reversal system is still a waste of time.
I'm sure there is more that I want to add on this, but I can't think of right now. This game makes me angry. It upsets me that Smackdown has just got steadily worse every year since 'Here Comes The Pain', and that yet again I've wasted another £40 on it. Yes, I know I didn't have to buy it, but it is my favourite game series of all time, and I wouldn't ever miss one.
To me, it seems they put all the worse bits from the series, put them in a cannon, fired it at a wall and burned whatever came out onto a DVD and sold it.
I'll enjoy using CAW and unlocking everything, but here's to hoping that 2009 is a step back in the right direction

Not to mention that the game is still too easy (maybe its just experience) I had struggles with the control system at first but I still managed to beat the oppnent on hard difficulty quite easily.. And loading times are a bitch.

they need to simplify the reversals like day of reckoning. no prolonged animations, but just a quick brush off when a grapple is reversed. i'm tired of all those damn cutscene things. it's like watching a movie instead of playing a game. and how many times do you watch a movie? Usually once.

I just traded mine in I never thought I'd do that with a wwf/e game, but it was just a mess

Spot on! All you need is to be able brush off your opponent to reverse their attack, not the prolonged agony that exists here.
I actually think the ultimate control thing is ok, but like most things here, poorly executed. Last night for a test, I played as Matt Hardy against Chavo on easy, to see how ultimate control would respond. To reiterate, I was on easy, and Chavo reversed me every single time I tried to perform ultimate control on him, on easy! I did the same thing against Jeff, and he was destroyed by ultimate control quite quickly. I realise Chavo is probably classed as more of a 'technical' wrestler by the game, but Chavo was like the second coming of Brock Lesnar on the highest difficulty on HCTP!
Its just an absolute mess. I'm going to pick up a copy of that game at the weekend to remember how good things once were.

Ultimate control is too easy to reverse now just wiggle the right stick around and you will reverse almost every time if not everytime

The only way this series will improve is if people don't buy it. It's the only thing anyone listens to anymore.

Saw, you're absolutely right. Problem is now that Smackdown is in exactly the same territory as the yearly 'updates' of Need for Speed and FIFA Soccer, and that will never happen. Ledesma has his cash cow, and will milk it for as long as he can.
Having said that, did I hear not so long ago that THQ's WWE contract comes up soon?

Actually, NFS and FIFA have been steadily improving and changing things up. In the states, it's kind of like the EA NBA and Madden series. Both have shown little improvement over the years, and if anything, things being made worse due to gameplay changes.
I'd use Winning 11 as an example, too, but the game still seems to have legs and is good.

Actually, NFS and FIFA have been steadily improving and changing things up. FIFA has certainly improved, but if you ask me NFS has gotten progressively worse since the first sequel in the series. The original game (anyone still remember the very first Need for Speed? No?) is still the high point in the series, as while the graphics have improved and there are now more tuning parts and what the hell ever, the gameplay has gotten to a point where it no longer bears any resemblance to driving a car and isn't fun at all. The original NFS had a great driving and physics model for its time, nowadays it's all watered down so much that it feels like an entirely different game. Which it basically is, to be honest.

So... you unlock Vince by defending a title at Wrestlemania. I won the WHC while defending my WWE title, and it's apparently NOT unlocked... Huh? Ita actually defend or win a title in GM Mode at Wrestlemania. Book a title match at Wrestlemania. Play as one of the superstars and win, and Vince is up for grabs Yeah, I checked again after posting and you're right. I just simulated the entire year and got to Wrestlemania, where the only two people left on my roster, Sandman and Finlay, duelled for the ECW title. Yay for bald Vince!

I dunno, I had a lot of fun playing Most Wanted. But I passed on Underground in favor of Midnight Club.

Looks like I'm gonna say no to Smackdown... again. I didn't buy SvR 07 until it became $17.99 used and I'm gonna do the same here. All the crap mentioned above does NOT justify $50(I have a PS2 mind you) that could go to something much MUCH better.

Don't see much point to is, as the biggest draw was GM Mode, and I think I'll get something deeper from FPWR.
