I really don't believe Cena on his claim of him never taking steroids. However, I can understand as to why he's so mad.

WWE received the following statement last night at 10:00 pm EST from CNN's Director of Public Relations, Jennifer Dargan: "CNN felt that Mr. Cena's statement in the interview: "My answer to that question 'have you ever used steroids' is -- the only thing I can say -- I can't tell you that I haven't, but you'll never be able to prove that I have" was a more expansive and complete answer -- and that's why we used it in the first run of the program. And we stand by that decision. But, we added the other quote on the Sunday replay where Mr. Cena first denied using steroids. We did this because of his complaint and the attention it received so that viewers could see how he said it both times." Still a dick move.

Cena has every right to be pissed off, BUT he should have known better... Steroids are the hot topic of the month, so he kinda had to expect they'd have tried to make him sound "bad". That happened with other wrestlers before, even live, so a non flattering cut-and-paste job was on the cards. Cena gave a good answer, but phrased it in a way that gave CNN too much room to edit. No matter in what context you say "I can't tell you that I haven't taken steroids, but you'll never be able to prove that I have", it's gonna sound like a "I'm not telling yes or no, but you can't prove it's a yes". And that sounds like a "yes". Cena's argument makes sense, but it was the wrong place and the wrong time to express it. He's an elloquant guy, and it's an eloquant answer. He's a smart fast talker, but he'd have to be the greatest speaker ever to be able to think of all the ways they will cut up his response. Shame on CNN really, Cena did fine IMO.

The WWE should do the same thing to their interviewers.
Jim Ross: Larry King, do you like snorting drugs off hookers' butts?
*Video clip of Larry King saying Yes*
Jim Ross: Larry, that was mighty honest of you, care to elaborate?
*Multiple clips of larry saying how he likes hookers*
Then JR can thank King for his time, and ask if Tucker Carlson and that other guy are gay lovers, only for both of them to say yes in various clips.
If Michael Moore and CNN can do it, and get rewarded for their journalism, why not the WWE?

WWE has never claimed to be a legitimate news organization, but of course, more Simpsons references can help. They can also pick on fellow CNN networks. Glenn Beck: . . . and then I grabbed . . . Mike Mero's. . . sweet-sw-sw-sweet . . . can!

Honest to God, apart from WWE.com and Cena, does anyone really give a damn about this. It's who the media works. WWE are just bitter that they are getting negative press these days, so come up all defensive, resulting in an attitude of "screw the media"
The same media that the WWF loved back around 1998-2001, when it was on fire and relevant to mainstream media, of which the Federation couldn't get enough of.
Seriously, why is this even a big deal, let alone a news story???

So painting someone to look like their saying something to the effect of "It's Not what you know, it's what you can prove" is an expansive answer? Wolf Blitzer is totally a wrestling name, anyway. I would imagine said wrestler being a more jacked up version of Deiter from Sprockets. "I'am As happy as a little girl".

*Noob Post* What Happened During the interview? Did They Edit Something? Apparently they had roughly 45 minutes of footage, and in the raw footage the interviewer asks Cena if he's ever taken steroids, to which he replies absolutely not. In the CNN special, they cut it so it looks like he gives a really ambiguous answer that sounds like he has been taking them.

*Noob Post* What Happened During the interview? Did They Edit Something? They Edited Cena's response to make him look like he was saying that he can't deny using steroids, but they couldn't confirm he does.

Watching the full interview further illustrates how terrible an edit it was from CNN.
The interviewer asks Cena if he's ever taken steroids.
His full response( words to this effect is) : 'Absolutely not. It's a rediculous question. I can't say I haven't but you can't prove that I have... because I can pass a thousand tests saying I'm clean but there will always be someone saying "oh he he's using a masking agent"' etc.
If you haven't yet I'd advise you to watch the full interview on WWE.com.

LOL CNN No sold WWE's request for an apology
Credit 411mania
CNN released the following statement regarding the controversy over their editing of John Cena's interview in their recent pro-wrestling documentary.
"CNN felt that Mr. We did this because of his complaint and the attention it received so that viewers could see how he said it both times."
Cena and WWE wanted an apology from CNN but it doesn't appear as if that will happen.

Well at least they're gonna show what he really said... But... wouldn't this "We did this because of his complaint and the attention it received so that viewers could see how he said it both times" show that CNN lied to expose the business ...
