Cena: Not at all. That’s a question I’ve answered a bunch. And going into a documentary on the life and death of Chris Benoit, I knew that steroids were gonna be brought up. . OMG WWE MENTIONED BENOIT but anyway it was pretty low of CNN

Is it just me, or have they always been linking the SAVE_US videos every time someone uses the number 2?

Cena has every right to be pissed off, BUT he should have known better...
Steroids are the hot topic of the month, so he kinda had to expect they'd have tried to make him sound "bad". That happened with other wrestlers before, even live, so a non flattering cut-and-paste job was on the cards.
Cena gave a good answer, but phrased it in a way that gave CNN too much room to edit.
No matter in what context you say "I can't tell you that I haven't taken steroids, but you'll never be able to prove that I have", it's gonna sound like a "I'm not telling yes or no, but you can't prove it's a yes". And that sounds like a "yes".
Cena's argument makes sense, but it was the wrong place and the wrong time to express it.

It's also another case of the media trying to keep the white guy trying to act like the black guy down.

This whole thing makes me respect Cena even more. I'm not a fan of his in ring character, as I think that it's just boring and he needs to either be a rapper again or at least become heel in some way, but he seems like a really good guy outside the ring. He handles himself with class and what CNN did was just about the most classless thing that they could have done.
I think that this is the best guy to carry the WWE into the next few years, just based on the fact that he has a good morality and seems to be a high character person. I also believe him when he says that he has never taken steroids.

I have a huge amount of respect for Cena as a result of this interview. I've always liked him as a person, thought he put on some decent matches, and felt he was the victim of poor booking decisions. He really is a classy person.

I would mark if Cena showed up at CNN and gave Wolf Blitzer and FU through the news desk.

Even unedited, I'm not sure Cena should have said what he did. It seems like the only reason to say that is so that there isn't another Kennedy situation. I know he started with "Absolutely Not.", but something should have gone off in his head when he started the "I can't tell you that I haven't...." part that he was giving them exactly the soundbyte they were looking for....

Yeah but here's the thing, they didn't bother to find out the context, hell even if he had explained the context (to be fair I don't know it either but anyway) they wouldn't have cared. So yes, maybe he shouldn't have said that, but CNN shouldn't have done what they did. Cena's wrong, CNN is wrong, but CNN is exponentially more wrong because they were intellectually dishonest by removing any possible context to that and presenting it as "this man does steroids, let's chastise" See this is why the truth is so hard to obtain, because of decisions like this by entities like CNN.

WWE received the following statement last night at 10:00 pm EST from CNN's Director of Public Relations, Jennifer Dargan:
"CNN felt that Mr. Cena's statement in the interview: "My answer to that question 'have you ever used steroids' is -- the only thing I can say -- I can't tell you that I haven't, but you'll never be able to prove that I have" was a more expansive and complete answer -- and that's why we used it in the first run of the program. And we stand by that decision. But, we added the other quote on the Sunday replay where Mr. Cena first denied using steroids. We did this because of his complaint and the attention it received so that viewers could see how he said it both times."
