I just don't get it. Whenever I read a "news site" all the "stories" (cough-gossip-cough) seems to always be accented with a jab at the WWE, or TNA. Never ROH, of course. But I just don't get it -- how can these people spend SO MUCH OF THEIR TIME (and probably make a living outta it with how many dang ads and pop ups they have) on something they don't seem to actually like?
It's not just Rajah, but that's just the example I gave b/c I feel like it's one most everyone around here is familiar with.
Also, I apologize if this was a misplaced thread.
On that note, Go Blue.

I guess it's because they consider it to be "cool" to go against the bigger companies.

They're like film critics. It's more fun bitching about movies than being complimentary about them.

They're like film critics. It's more fun bitching about movies than being complimentary about them. That is probably the greatest comment in the history of the internet wrestling community. Period. Except that that comments pertains to damn near everyone. Here, included. Everyone bitches about the product more than compliments. I try not to because then I'd be a hypocrite. I'd say that about 99% of the WC board does more bitching than praising. There could be a five star match between Edge and Jericho on Monday. But everyone will bitch because HHH and Orton started the show with a promo. Such is life, I guess...

Nobody likes reading complimentary reviews. "I hate this" sells better. Who do you think gets more hits: AVGN or some guy who praises every game he reviews to high heaven?

I pretty much agree with the most of the views in this thread about negativity getting more attention than the positive aspects. An article about HHH supposedly burying people is going to get the news site more hits.

I may be more interested in mingling than venting, but venting is healthy.

I'm beginning to think Scherer, Johnson, and Woodward actually DO hate wrestling... at least since ECW folded.

i hate critics in general. i'm sure they're nice people, but the simple practice of being a critic sucks. of all the careers, you chose to spend your life telling other people where they went wrong. what the hell? if you guys are so good at booking a wrestlking show, or putting together formats, why don't you go ahead and do it?

Damn liberal media hatin' on our wrasslin'! I know you're joking, but I was about to make a point and say you could apply a thought like this to just about any field you can report on. Not to lend journalistic integrity to the guys who run the "NEWZ" sites (most of which, as we all know, are absolutely awful), but criticizing something doesn't = hatred. Sports Illustrated doesn't hate Major League Baseball, but it, and the fans right along with them, will call MLB out on running World Series games so late at night that nobody can watch them, and with allowing steroids to get so deep in the game, etc. etc. That doesn't mean they hate MLB, it's valid criticism. Again, not equating SI with NEWZ sites here, as one is a quality publication and the other is a mucky sea of ignorance, but the point still stands.

I agree that most of us here make fun of wrestling, not bash it. And what we DO make fun of, well let's be honest, needs to be made fun of.
I try, TRY, to back up any outright negative comments with plainspoken rational thinking, not angry bias.

Wade Keller, who writes for pwtorch.com is one of the worst. I think it's mostly because you can create a lot more content by bashing the product, and then pretending to take the moral high ground. Its also a way of making yourself seem more important. Kinda like saying "i'm way more intelligent than those 'normal' fans because i can see the product more clearly than anyone, for what it really is." Truth is, they can't.

I prefer it when writers inject their opinions into recaps. It makes a much more interesting read then "wrestler a pins wrestler b in 10:00".
