I've been trying to decide lately what the worst SummerSlam card ever was, and was curious what you all thought.
SummerSlam is (arguably) the second biggest priority show of the year behind WrestleMania, and obviously as one of the big 4, certainly supposed to contain the big payoffs for a lot of feuds. Ironically, I think some of the worst SummerSlams came before the creation of the monthly Pay Per View, as everything even into the mid-to-late 90's seemed like a revolving door to WrestleMania. In any event, I am torn between the '93 and '95 SummerSlam's as the worst card, though you might think a completely different one.
1993 SummerSlam
Razor Ramon vs. Ted DiBiase WWF Tag Team Title Match: The Steiner Brothers (C) vs. The Heavenly Bodies WWF IC Title Match: Shawn Michaels (C) vs. Mr. Perfect I.R.S. vs. The 1-2-3 Kid Bret Hart vs. Doink the Clown (w/ Jerry Lawler) Ludvig Borga vs. Marty Janetty The Undertaker vs. Giant Gonzalez Tatanka and the Smoking Gunns vs. Bam Bam Bigelow and The Head Shrinkers WWF World Title Match: Yokozuna (C) vs. Lex Luger
*** It should be noted that after the Hart/Doink match, Lawler was forced to wrestle Hart or be banned from the WWF, Lawler won by DQ.
---------------------------------------------
1995 SummerSlam
Hakushi vs. The 1-2-3 Kid Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs. Bob Holly The Smoking Gunns vs. The Blu Brothers Barry Horowitz vs. Skip (w/ Sunny) WWF Women's Title Match: Alundra Blayze (C) vs. Bertha Faye Casket Match: The Undertaker vs. Kama Bret Hart vs. Isaac Yankem WWF IC Title Ladder Match: Shawn Michaels (C) vs. Razor Ramon WWF World Title Match: Diesel (C) vs. Mabel

I would say 95 was the worst out of the 2, apart from the ladder match.

I haven't seen either of those PPVs, but SS 95 does look the weaker on paper.
The worst Summerslam I've seen is SS 06. Apart from the main event (Cena/Edge) that PPV sucked 80 flavours of balls

The 1993 card looks really good except for the last three matches.

My 40 bucks were flushed down the proverbial toliet.

I mean, it was a live PPV (my 2nd) and I enjoyed it at the time, but looking back on it...my God what a mess that PPV was.

I didn't think this years was that bad, in any event, I think its been better than any PPV not named "WrestleMania 23" or "Great American Bash" this year.
It shouldn't be behind GAB, but it was, and the WWE has really put on some awful cards this year.

SummerSlam 1995 is beyond horrible. Outside of the ladder match, you've got a big pile of crap.
Hakushi and Kid is decent, but its just a throw away match with no point.
Bret Hart is working with.......Issac Yankem?
Taker working with.......Kama?
A main event with.........MABLE?
Its enough to make you head hurt.

The WWF still had the talent to put over some good feuds in this time frame, and they could have headed off "The War", if it wasn't for such terrible booking. Hart spent like two and a half years doing basically nothing. Hart/Taker was ready to be done at this point, the Mabel push was disastrous from the start. He was a big fat man who could do no moves. Owen was still there, and could have worked a program with Michaels (if they wanted to keep Owen a heel), or Razor Ramon.

am i the only person in this forum who REALLY liked the Hart vs Yankem match? The match might have been decent, but one of the worlds greatest champions, at the time was stuck fueding with guys either with an awful gimmick or guys people thought Bret could just destroy. Evil Dentist... Check Evil Clown... Check Evil Pirate... Check Randon Japanese Guy with a lot tatoos... Check Washed up wrestler from the 80's thats now an announcer... Check

I haven't every SS, but I'll comment on the ones I have seen.
1995: I'm a little biased towards this one, because I was just gettin into wresling at the time, so I enjoyed every PPV at the time.
1996: This was a kinda weak. The New Rockers??? Wild Man Marc Mero??? Savo Vega??? I wasn't too fond of this one, especially when the show went off right before Michaels-Vader.
1997: Other than LOD-Godwinns and the give away, this one wasn't bad and it started the awesome HBK-Undertaker feud.
1998: Not a favorite of mine. Other than the Ladder match and Austin-Undertaker, there wasn't a whole lot going on.
1999: Probably my favorite. All it was missing was a Jericho match.
2000: I lied. This is my favorite. Shane's huge bump. TLC. Benoit-Jericho. Rock-Angle-Triple H. RTC. I loved it.
2002: This was the first big show after the brand extension, and it really didn't live up to the hype. Michaels' return and Lesnar's title win were really the only bright spots.
2005: A 25 second opener? A Ladder match for custody of a child? The first match in the hottest feud of the summer ending with a ref stoppage? Batista-JBL? No thank you.
2006: I actually liked this one. Go figure.
Out of those, I'd say the worst was either '96 or '05.
