FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – WWE Champion Randy Orton hates to say he told you so … well, not really. He loves to say he told you so. And after defeating Shawn Michaels last night at Survivor Series to retain his WWE Title, Orton is taking great satisfaction in rubbing in his victory to critics who predicted an abrupt end to his championship reign.
“I did what I said what was going to do,” the Legend Killer said. “I told you that Sweet Chin Music or not, I would own Shawn Michaels, and I did.”
Well, for a guy who “owned” Michaels, Orton sure appeared to come very close to losing on several occasions last night at Survivor Series. Due to a pre-match stipulation, HBK could not use Sweet Chin Music, but he surprised Orton with a variety of submission holds, nearly making him tap out to a Sharpshooter, a crossface and an anklelock.
But The Showstopper’s reliance on Sweet Chin Music eventually turned out to be his undoing. When Michaels had Orton reeling at a key moment in the match, he almost attempted the superkick. The Legend Killer capitalized on that hesitation with a quick, lethal and match-ending RKO.
“I took away his greatest weapon, Sweet Chin Music, and he couldn’t do anything against me,” Orton crowed. “I’m at the top of my game; I’m in my prime. Shawn Michaels is not. It’s time for this one-man dynasty to move on to other things now.”
So, Orton has cemented his “one-man dynasty” with a victory over Michaels. His era has truly begun. But has he heard the last of HBK, especially since his nemesis laid him out once again with Sweet Chin Music after the final bell at Survivor Series? And will anybody else step up to the plate and try to bring an end to Orton’s dynasty? Tune in to Raw tonight at 9/8 CT live on USA Network.
Well, Jericho obviously. But I figured they'd put him in a warm up feud with Kennedy or Santino first.
Hardy would be great, and he was booked strongly last night.

I'm hoping Jeff Hardy. The guy has been having amazing matches, and getting great reactions from the crowd. I wouldn't expect Hardy to win the belt, but a good run with Orton in an angle will definitely help him.

This actually surprises me, as I thought they were setting up another match with Michaels.
I also want to see Hardy step up, but he should put someone over for the IC title first.

It'll likely be HHH but I'd be keen on seeing someone the likes of Hardy step up to the plate here.

They could have a title v. title fued. Although there may be a flaw since Hardy will be desperate for for wwe title, but Orton won't really give a crap about the IC belt because...well, it's only the IC belt.

Yeah, which makes me not want to see a title vs. title. What they could do is have Orton defend the title against Hardy on Raw, with Hardy coming so close but getting beat in the end. Then, Orton would cost Hardy the IC belt the next week against Umaga or someone. This would give them a reason to feud.

Looking back they did end Orton/HBK on the right note.
HBK wanted revenge and he got it, he just didn't get the title. And Orton showed the world he could beat HBK.

I don't think he's done with Michaels completely. They usually say stuff like that for the post PPV shows. The heel usually tries to move on after he wins.
"But has he heard the last of HBK, especially since his nemesis laid him out once again with Sweet Chin Music after the final bell at Survivor Series?"
That right there at least tells me that Shawn is still going after him. I would think they would have at least one more match before Orton has the usual meaningless RR title match and then the feud with his WM opponent.

And if you look at the RAW preview, it also says: "Randy Orton retained the WWE Championship at Survivor Series, defeating Shawn Michaels. What will the WWE Champion have to say about his victory? And will HBK be looking to settle the score (or earn a rematch)?IMO they're going to introduce a new challenger (Triple H? Jeff Hardy?) but Shawn will get involved into it and it'll lead to a Triple threat for Armageddon or something like that. At least that's what I think is going to happen.

At least freaking drop the title off Hardy BEFORE he gets a damn shot.
Let Hardy go into a feud with Umaga this month and lose the belt at Armageddon.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Orton vs HBK vs Jeff Hardy at Armageddon. Jeff was the one who won it for Trips' team last night. So they're setting him up for a main event run. And putting him in a triple threat with Orton and HBK would be a good way to do it. Maybe Hardy drops the belt tonight to Kennedy.

Jeff would be a nice transitional feud before the inevitable HHH feud for 'Mania.
Honestly, I think they'll continue with HBK for now.
