I've been watching the Jericho return video a lot and the one thing that bothers me is the really poor camera work. I mean they zoom in far to far in on the code and you can't make out the Jericho. Please when he is walking around it's a bit shakey. Also they filmed his pose alright but they then cut to Orton's face just when jericho first turned around and you saw his face, that is smurfed up right there.
Oh and on the first attack on the Torch guy the camera zooms IN on his shirt instead of out into the pose.
It just all seemed rather off for some reason. Now i know it is was live and loud and a big moment so its possible the cameramen/ and the editor (guy who switches cameras (monkey in the trunk)) simply just fumbled up a bit
But i came up with a Theory that WWE simply blackscreened them on it. I mean WWE have been obssed with keeping it a secret and we've read reports how made they get when things leak.
But i don't know if they would be so obssessed as to not fill in Cameramen. Meh just a theory
(It is possible the cameraman was Edge, but maybe not)
Did the camerawork bother anyone else?
- Hello Wrestlecrap btw. ;D

Yeah, the ground camerawork was pretty crappy. I hated how the camera zoomed in on the titantron only showed RIC instead of Jericho. Maybe it was intentional? Ric Flair IS returning next week.

Im not too fond of WWE camera work at times. Like panning to the audience in the middle of a match and crap like that

I liked the return, but there's actually quite a few things to nitpick that kept a good return from being an excellent one.
-Camerawork: Yes, it was bad for all the reasons you mentioned.
-Jericho clotheslining the torch bearer backstage: Rather than have Jericho appear and get his pop all at once, they give you a quick look at him backstage which got a pop, then showed the stuff on screen verifying that who you saw was definitely Jericho...getting another pop...then he showed up in person getting another pop.
Probably would have been better with a more simple approach. Have the stuff on the titantron just interrupt Orton, then Jericho appears right as it ends. Leave out the saveus_y2j culmination on the backdrop until right when he appears. The torch bearer could have tried to come down the ramp and Jericho could clothesline him there instead, after he had already revealed himself.
If all those things had been done, you probably would have gotten the big pop like he got when he first debuted.
Eh, hindsight, what can you do.

It's the guys in the truck that made the cut. Kevin Dun would be responsible for this, and I'm sure he was in on Jericho's comeback (he probably put together the video package).

If the cameraman didn't know, he'd have been the only person who didn't

It was bad production to cut to Orton's gormless face at the exact moment Jericho turned around.

Hell, I remember when Jeff Hardy won the IC belt from HHH back in 2001 (give or take, and it may have been the other way around -- the reign only lasted 5 days) and the cameraman didn't even get the pinfall I think a similar thing happened the following week when Triple H won it back, the camera had cut to Steve Austin and when it cut back Triple H was getting his hand raised in victory.

well myself being a "(guy who switches cameras (monkey in the trunk)" can tell you that it all comes down to the direction. The Camera operators do not shoot what ever they fell like. every thing is very scripted and well rehearsed. The person you want to blame is the director, and possibly the producer.
Oh, and FYI, the Job title is Vision Mixer... but monkey will suffice.

Wow, I love it how people jump all over a new poster for having *gasp* too many images in his signature! READ THE smurfING RULES ASSHOLE! LOSE THAT SIG ASAP OR I'M TELLING!! (oops, somebody's going to rat me out now for YELLING IN ALL CAPS)
Oh yeah, and I was pretty disappointed with the return for the reasons already mentioned, and I like the idea of him taking out the torchbearer on the ramp.

I thought the exact same thing. I noticed the very same stupid mistakes.
Remember how cool it looked when Jericho first debuted... they had all the lights and video packages leading up to his first appearance. It was spot on perfect. No confirmation it was Jericho until the word "JERICHO" fills the entire titan tron from a far off view. And a HUGE roar erupted from the crowd. Then they cut to a shot of Jericho, back to the crowd in the famous pose. It was pure awesome and couldn't have been edited better.
This time should have been the same. No definite confirmation it was Jericho until the very moment that the word 'JERICHO' hit the big screen yet again. This time, we didn't even get to see that long shot of his name on the screen.
Yeah, as good as his return was, it didn't live up to the first debut.

You think the camera work in that was bad? On the weekly (and by weekly, i mean there are approx 5 episodes that they keep on repeating) wrestling show in Australia, IWA, they have terrible camera work. Pretty much in every match, halfway through it they cut to the announcers. And not just for one or two seconds, but up to 10 seconds at a time. And when it cuts back to the ring you have no idea what just happened. And it happens in every match. "I'm Jim Cornette, And That's My Opinion"
