Am I the only one who dislikes the choreographed ring entrances for everyone? I understand that part of the the idea in getting characters over, especially during the Attitude era, was to give them all crazy ring entrances, but, excluding the Undertaker, the most over guys in the company have never really had crazy entrances.
And the worst infraction has to be John Morrison. The slow motion thing is fine, I guess, considering who his character is supposed to be patterning, but what in the hell does he do with his arms? Is he trying a synchronized swimming maneuver? Is this supposed to get him over as a heel?
That damn swimming maneuver doesn't make me want to boo him, it makes me want to institutionalize him.

I'm not sure what's going on with Morrison.
I don't understand what his character is supposed to be, yet, I'm instructed to take him seriously. It doesn't help that when he's talking, he has a robotic voice. He obviously can't talk worth shit, so why is he being put into a role where he's talking a lot?
His entrance is another thing. It just seems so ... outdated. I mean, I can imagine the slow-motion thing being used by Rick Rude back in the '80s. Yeah, it would've looked cool back then, but it doesn't now.

I like the entrance. If you don't take the persona seriously, fine, but his wrestling is of main event calibur.

I think his promos are good, but he's been much criticized for his promo skills. I don't really know what else to say about that.
I've said this before and I'll say it again though: I think Morrison is a great wrestler, but not a great heel because he tends to outshine his opponents in terms of in-ring ability.

Corkscrew neckbreaker. Kung Fu Jesus indeed. I like a guy who is astounding in the ring as a heel. Certainly not your stereotypical heel, but that's a good thing.

There needs to be a time where a babyface ambushes him during his entrance so we get Morrison doing his hair thing only to be slowly snuck up on and hit with chair, and the footage quickly goes to normal speed.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, but not a third time. That's legally too much.
I like John Morrison. From his entrance, to his character, to his wrestling ability, his moveset. Everything. However, it wouldn't hurt him to work on microphone skills. Or at least slow them down. He has main event potential.

The next week, he walks out in slow motion, sees a shiny quarter on the ground (with XXtreme camera closeup), then bends over in slow motion to pick it up and gets this huge, smug smile on his face.

I reckon they should film him going about his everyday life like that.

I feel like a lot of John Morrison's moves are convoluted or poorly conceived in the least. What I mean by this is, I think the best workers have a move set that seems plausible while not dangerous, but a lot of the stuff Morrison does, while incredibly gymnastic, doesn't even look like it would hurt, or it takes so long that it doesn't look like it would make any sense to be applied.
Morrison would make a tremendous gymnast I think, he has the type of raw athletic ability that very few guys in the wrestling world today have, but the creative behind some of his moves make them look a lot more glamorous than dangerous.
That's the problem with his character as a heel I think, but I think that goes beyond just him to a lot of WWE heels right now -- they rarely look very dangerous compared to the face.

I think the fact that they look glamorous is kind of the point, and it definitely goes along with his self-absorbed character. He doesn't care how bad they hurt as long as he looks good.

While Morrison is a solid in-ring performer, his persona makes no sense at all. I don't understand the things that he says during his promos half of the time and his enterance makes him look like a bad male porn star. I mean seriously, the only time that a man is filmed in slow mo like that and moves the way that he does is in really bad pornographic videos. Women in porn videos have those slow mo moments all of the time.

No, I think it's pretty lame too. Of course, I think the whole gimmick is the friggin' pits. I actually found him more credible as L.A. snob Johnny Nitro than a guy trying to play like Jim Morrison and spouting ridiculous catch phrases.
And help me out with this:
His music? If he's supposed to be "Morrison-esque", why does the song sound like a Jimi Hendrix tune? Shouldn't they have sampled something from the Doors?
