I love the Hart Foundation, but how long until Anvil is turned solo and Bret is wished well on his future endeavors? Granted, the guy can go, but he's not big enough and is, quite frankly, embarrassing to watch in their promos. He's just gonna get lost in the shuffle. IMO, he'll be back up in Stampede in 6-8 months. That was the feeling of a lot of us back then.

I didn't watch at that time, i started watching just as Bret was starting to get his big singles push. Bret has always been a huge star for as long as i've watched, and it's alien for me to think that he might not have made it big.

To simulate the experience, just start a thread about Hogan. You'll hear all kinds of hilarious crap people just pulled out their asses.

You struck a GOLDMINE!!!. This one is from February 20, 1990. ">They named Flair wrestler of the decade (which is a >joke...Hogan IS and has been wrestling since 1984...and we all know this). Maybe. Hulk Hogan is fun entertainment (sometimes) but a wrestler he isn't. I don't judge the quality of the books I read on their popularity nor do I judge the quality of the movies I see by their popularity. Why should I rate wrestlers according to their popularity? Hogan is a poor worker, knows maybe a dozen moves and can barely take a bump in his old age. (He used to be better.) He won't do a clean job or, for that matter, a job at all except under the most bizarre conditions. (Remember the evil twin referees?) He does give a good interview, but his patter gets tiresome. Flair, on the other hand, is a first-rate worker, knows the full repertoire of moves and takes bumps he ought not to at his age. He'll also do the job if the company demands it. (Expect it during Wrestlewar.) There isn't a better interview in the business. He is a quintissential professional wrestler, within the context of what that requires. What Flair hasn't got is Vince McMahon's business sense and scorched earth policy of getting ahead. >Apparently, the WRESTLING shows didn't sell against the WWF, >even though the REAL fans supposedly prefered that style. Do you think the NWA >can out-WWF the WWF? My guess is that they can't, and that the NWA is in need >of a major shakeup. Probably not, but this doesn't make what the WWF does good wrestling. It simply isn't, with some noteable exceptions. I agree, should the NWA become like the WWF we will have lost a part of American culture. I hope it doesn't happen, but with a $300M business at stake it may. >Remember that the real REAL fans are the ones who tune in the shows, buy the >PPVs, go to the matches, and are listened to the most. And they have chosen, >wrong as some who post here (as well as anti_WWF forces everywhere), Hulk Hogan >and the WWF over Ric Flair and the NWA (etc.). Nope. It's the kids. Vince has figured that the kids will tune in, hence the image and merchandising orientation of the WWF. If you want to call the kids real fans, then go ahead. I'll reserve the right to differ."

I disagree. How about retiring the European Belt (after all, HHH never defends it or even wears it), jobbing the I-C belt to someone more worthy (names like 2 Cold Scorpio, Jeff Jarrett, Ken Shamrock, Steve Blackmon, Marc Mero, or even Sable...at least she can wrestle), and leaving the LH belt alone?
The LH belt is goofy looking (apologies to J-Mar, but it really is goofy looking), but the wrestling in the light heavyweight/Cruiserweight divisions is much better than the heavyweights. When's the last time Hogan did a hurancarana?

The Euro Belt is just stupid and an insult to the fans. I don't even know of *any* Europeans in the WWF. HHH certainly is not. That belt needs to be "remolded" into something of a US Heavyweight or jobbed to someone else. Non-Europeans having the "European Belt" is like having Kane wrestling for the "Light-Heavyweight Belt."

Reply to author | Forward | Print | Individual message | Show original | Report this message | Find messages by this author Does he have the record of World Champion that has received the most beatdowns??? Man, who the hell is booking this crap??? You're trying to push hhh as a legit badass champ and all he does is get beatdown by everybody including Vince McMahon??? And for some reason, they are pushing him like a face... Everything is against him... I don't know... His whole World Title push just sucks bad and IMO it's not really his fault... He should be kicking Austin's ass for months and months... (not the other way around)... and then Austin finally beats him for the title... I mean, does ANYONE know how to book a badass dominating heel anymore??? It's really not that hard to do...
