How sweet would it be if there were a really talented band that chose to strictly write songs about obscure jobbers and other fringe wrestling people? I'm thinking metal/progressive rock but there'd be some ballads in there. Like a hair band struggling to make their way in modern times. Though seeing as how they're a hypothetical band, who knows? Sky's the limit. Sky's The Limit. That's gonna be the name of my soon-to-be band. Our songs will consist of mainly Dylan, Chaplin, wrestling and muffin references. Crash Test Dummies has a song called "Thick-Necked Man", and while it doesn't name an actual wrestler, one of the lines go, He watches T.V. all star wrestling, slams a six of ale. That's my lame contribution to this.

In that vein, I guess you could include that one They Might Be Giants song. "Particle man, particle man..." If only becaused they used it on an episode of Tiny Toons Adventures where Plucky Duck was a wrestler. Please Dinobot, you come to me when you want to talk about lame.

It's associated with a cartoon, which is what wrestling was in the early 90's when it featured Plucky Duck. Plucky was a lot like Virgil, and that blasted Buster was that foolish Ted DiBiase. No clue what that means. But it has to mean something, maybe. Perhaps if Mr. Particle Man made one last nostalgic run up against Cena on Raw, the planet would explode from twin supermen colliding.

Holy crap, the filters here are lame. Anyways, there is also a small hardcore band named Owen Hart. I don't think they are very good, but they have a provoking name.

If I remember correctly, New Jack is referenced in a Weezer song. Yeah, that was "El Scorcho." Anyways, someone made a post about this good YouTube video with wrestling references in hip-hop, so here's the link again: youtube.com/watch?v=IT8QlFT7gQsHmm... songs about wrestling... Well, my genres of expertise are punk, ska, hardcore, and its ilk, so let me contribute a handful of songs: "The Crusher" by the Ramones. Never sure if this was a real wrestler, but it sure is about wrestling. "You F---ed Up" by Los Dryheavers. This song is incredible. Really fast rock and roll song about the original ECW. The chorus is like a wrestling chant, and the song makes a bunch of references to the original fed. This is my favorite wrestling-related song. just had a listen to "you f***ed up", and that is bloody brilliant. i didn't even know that song existed.

"Mr. Andy Kaufman in a wrestling match...ya ya ya ya." Freddie Blassie was also mentioned at the same REM song.

A truer statement has never been spoken. Rap is awful! What gets played in mainstream TV and Radio is awful, I'll totally agree with that. But I have to disagree that ALL of it sucks. There's a lot of good stuff that goes unheard by some.

I know I heard a song in the last 5 years that had some rapper sayin he'd "bury you like tha undataka!" even sounded like a deeper voiced Teddy Long with the way he said Undertaker.
Yeah that vague enough for ya?

I'm sorry, you think that's something that shouldn't be filtered? I personally don't think any words should be filtered. It's silly and patronizing. If someone's entirely vocabulary consists of curses, thats' another thing, but it looks really dumb when people's words are altered to something more PG-13, especially considering that is a wrestling-related board and much of wrestling deals with/has dealt with explicit content. Hell, I'd even be happier if the filters managed to fit the context of the sentence. For example, if you write the c-word with a capital as part of a name, "vagina" doesn't even change to "Vagina." Yeah, that was "El Scorcho." Anyways, someone made a post about this good YouTube video with wrestling references in hip-hop, so here's the link again: youtube.com/watch?v=IT8QlFT7gQsHmm... songs about wrestling... I first heard that song from them live, and I got so excited because I was probably one of a handful of people there to get the references.
