i'm not talking about main event... im talking about going past that... Like Hogan and SCSA. I may have found the reason they were so well liked and the reason Cena isint loved like them right now! It's because both Hogan and SCSA had announcers they were best friends with, while Cena makes fun of Grisham all the time. Think about it:
Hogan had Mene Gene
SCSA had JR
Cena needs someone to truely be the next Hogan

Cena is the next Austin or Hogan. Him being booed by smarks doesn't change that.

Once they've maxed out their current amount of XP... then they can assign new attributes.

In my opinion what gets a wrestler to that level is transcending the profession and becoming a household name, basically becoming larger than life.

All it takes is to have that one moment where people start to take notice of you. Like when Rock and Austin opened their mouths and WWF let them speak, or when Foley fell of the cage. I don't think you can plan that, it just happens.

It's when people break out of the midcard by doing something outstanding...and not just stupid outstanding but something that makes the head of the pack.

Sometimes a great announcer is just the straight man that someone needs to shine on the mic. Would Ali have been who he was without Cosell?

I think you could say that JR certainly helped Austin (and to a much lesser extent, Okerlund helped Hogan), but I don't know that you need an announcer helping you out.
Though it does help when you have another person, who is extremely credible in what they do, help make you. Eddy made Mysterio and JBL. Benoit made MVP. Kane helped put a whole bunch of people, including HHH, on the map and he's still doing it.

I'd say that The Rock is on the same level as Austin and Hogan, and all he ever did was make fun of Kevin Kelly.

Rocky did a whole lot more than make fun of Kevin Kelly. He was probably the best quick insult artist of his day, I would say, better than Jericho. Definitely got the crowd behind him whenever he started talking smack. Here's a good example.

I meant as far as interactions with interviewers goes, he never had a Mean Gene to play off of, he basically just ragged on Kevin Kelly and the Coach.

For Cena it was his mic skills, for Batista it was his aura and suave persona, for Edge it was his heel turn, for orton... Well still not sure why Orton is so over.

I think a lot of it has to do with the right timing, the right person, and a little bit of luck. Steve Austin's probably the only person in the world that could've made the "Austin 3:16" craze catch on. Mark Calaway is the only person that could make The Undertaker character such a huge success for so long, even to this day. Same can be said for guys like The Rock and Hulk Hogan. These guys just have "it" and you can't really explain how they become such big stars. It just kind of happens.
