and bring them back.. Granted they really did some ludicrous things in WCW. But they at least know A LITTLE OF WHAT WORKS IN WRESTLING!!! More than these soap opera rejects. Would it bother you if they brought Russo and Ferrera back to shake some things up in the world of the wwe? I mean this product is without a doubt sub-standard even to someone who isnt a huge wrestling fan. I mean im sure most of you guys here could book a better smackdown and raw, than these bafoons

Russo and Ferrera were fine when Vince McMahon kept their crazier ideas under control.
They were pretty much given free reign in WCW, and that was the major problem.

Ah, the Russo thread, is it that time of year again?
Resolved: Vince Russo should be hired by WWF Creative. Pro: He was a part of the Attitude era, Vince has already hired him twice, TNA isn't that bad, and his focus on the midcard enriches us all. Con: He had a really bad 3 months in WCW, most of his ideas are stale, and I'm not sure what he's done for us lately.

Actually, by most accounts, network people from Time Warner (i believe) sat in on their meetings and most of what was used on TV was the 3rd or 4th idea because the networks people kept shooting down the original ideas.

No. The future of the WWE doesn't lay in its past. I don't want to see re-hashes of things from The Attitude Era (DX, Steve Austin driving the beer truck, Evil Mr. McMahon). Create a new generation of superstars, with a new generation creative team behind them.
Russo would only make the product feel more like 1997, in my opinion.

Why, oh why, hasn't anybody ever suggested R.L. Stine to write for the WWE? Wrestling needs less divas, more witches.

While the booking philosophy would likely be similar, and there would be some wacky stuff here and there, hes always been a guy to push young talent and give midcarders something to do.

Russo has six ideas, five of which suck.
The WWE needs a new creative team. Keyword: New.

He had a Piñata on a Pole match with Mexicans. He had a Viagra on a Pole match. He had mostly naked women wrestling in mud, jello, and many other substances. He named a character Hugh G. Rection. He made fun of JR's Bells Palsy. If Creative Control was mucking up his booking decisions, why did we end up with this crap? How morally degenerate was the rest of his ideas to not cut the mustard?

I just seem to think Vince Russo would be stuck doing the same style "shock" writing which he's always done. It worked with the whole "Gen-X" attitude of the late 90's, but I can't see how it'd possibly work (at the same magnitude) with todays audience. I don't know what the solution is to the current product, but I'm pretty sure Vince Russo or Ed Ferrera aren't the answer. ~Kyle

The problem with how they do it now is that they pick up twits who can't even write for Lifetime Original Movies let alone Pro Wrestling. I'm not against hiring Hollywood writers, but when you have as much money as the WWE, can't they afford a little better?

Remember, since Russo is a born-again, he's been keeping his more juvenile sensibilities in check. It wouldn't be the Attitude era all over again.
I'd like Russo back, but honestly I'm enjoying what he's bringing to TNA at the moment: Helping shape the mid and under cards and giving everyone a character. Even if you're vehemently anti-Russo, you have to admit that he's always made this a priority over almost every other wrestling writer.
