Special thanks to machinegun for discovering this duder who posted this on the Tube (or if you are the poster yourself, double thanks). For my money, this is simply one of the best feud buildup "hype" videos made in the last 5 years, quite possibly ever: www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4ZZ6EP1sK4The feud itself had excellent booking and storytelling. Both men's characters were well-defined as a clear heel and a clear face that crowds definitely picked up on and were able to easily get behind. Great video, great feud.

Maybe it's just me but I find it sad that this is the only feud Eddie won when he was WWE champ (I believe he just feuded with Kurt and JBL)

That's probably the only women's feud I can ever remember. The match was probably the best I've seen as well.

Great promo. One thing that got to me though is that these guys are supposed to really really hate each other, yet at Wrestlemania they had a really technical match, more typical of two babyfaces. It just didn't fit.

Youtube isn't working for me at the moment, but another hell good promo video is the King of the Ring/Judgement Day 2006 video done to "This Fire Burns"... freaking sweet.

Kinda ironic Kurt criticizes Eddie for being a champion with a drug habit

"Eddie Guerrero was a drug addict. You can't have a drug addict as world champion."
No Kurt, you can't. You just can't.

"Eddie Guerrero was a drug addict. You can't have a drug addict as world champion." No Kurt, you can't. You just can't. I mean, really, who writes these things, who allows them? Half the damn locker room has a drug problem or problems, ranging from steroids and pain killers to alcohol and dope, so why even mention it? Sheer hubris from everyone involved.

Great promo. One thing that got to me though is that these guys are supposed to really really hate each other, yet at Wrestlemania they had a really technical match, more typical of two babyfaces. It just didn't fit. I disagree. Both men were fantastic wrestlers who could put on a great match. In Angle's case, he wanted to prove he was a better representative for the company, and what better way to do that than wrestling clean and getting the win over Eddy in the middle of the ring. Eddy, for his part, needed to prove he was worthy of being champion. He didn't resort to illegal tactics (much) because he was playing the babyface. As a result, the WM20 match wasn't about who could do a manlier blade job, it was about psychology and storytelling. At several points in that match, you really believe Angle is going to murder Eddy with his bare hands. I also love, LOVE the fact that the worst illegal weapon used in the feud was the title belt, which was the focal point of the feud anyway. No stiff chairshots, no getting run over with a car, or any retardedly stupid violent crap like that. Yet even a single punch, just a barehanded punch with no brass knuckles or barbed wire or whatever, was tremendously meaningful, since Eddy was handcuffed and helpless when he took it. I loved the fact that Angle's typical heel character took on a whole new dimension as an enforcer for The Man, or The Establishment. If you recall, Angle was actually playing babyface before this and tried to mediate the feud between Eddy & Chavo after they lost the tag titles. Heyman was also great as The Man. Probably not a coincidence that he was involved (I wouldn't be surprised if he had written the angle himself, it was brilliant). Loved how Eddy's babyface character wasn't a knight in shining armor. Yeah, he's not perfect, he's made some mistakes but who hasn't? Both sides had elements of truth, like so many real-life disputes do. Even though it was a scripted wrestling match between a couple of 200-pound men "fighting" over a fake gold belt, like always, it was a much more relatable feud in my opinion. I think the fans were able to get behind both men in a way they hadn't been able to before. This, THIS was what a wrestling feud should be.
