Sure, Festus is being pushed as an unstoppable, yet awkward, monster, but we, and his opponents, have already figured out his weakness. Once he and Jesse mee the enevitable, a match where an opponent just keeps ringing a bell, where we'll he go with his character? Straight to the midcard as a solo wrestling monster. Unless he does the FaKane thing again. Yeesh.

Maybe they'll do a thing where someone rings the bell too much and he gets "Stuck" in Psycho mode. Awesome idea! I wanna see it happen.

I think there's more life to it than people think.
They can have people fiddling with the bell lead to interesting scenarios regarding him being psycho AFTER the match rather than during it, as well as having him simply snap due to excessive bell ringing leading to a new kane/mankind type gimmick as well.
There's even room for him to return to original festus after that via more storyline involving the bell if they want to come up with some.

His mind will snap and he'll start wearing a leather mask and hanging out in boiler rooms. Mankind or Abyss?

I like the gimmick. It's different. It has legs, especially if you seen him and Jesse pushing the John Cena DVD last week.
It might have the lifespan of Kurrgan, but it's a fun distraction from the usual band of crap the E gives us.

If/when it starts to get a bit old, if Festus is over, he'll just be cured, and be able to control it... and he'll have been helped in getting over by the gimmick.

I hope I know where this is going...
Wrestling in general and the WWE specifically has never had a problem with lifting ideas from popular culture. Remember the Shelton/Trish MNF T.O./Nicolette Sheridan spoof ("Everybody knows that Candian women with broken noses are attracted to Afirican-American wrestlers") or more recently the Hornswoggle Looney Tunes skits?
Well I think Jesse and Festus could turn into an homage to one of my favorite Danny Kay routines. In "The Court Jester" Kaye plays Hubert Hawkins a bumbling court jester serving a usrper to the throne. During the course of the movie he's hypnotized into thinking and therefore becoming the greatest swordsman in the land. The trigger is a bell ringing. When he hears hands clapping he comes out of it and goes back to becoming a bumbling fool. The climactic fight scene where he switches back and forth between the two characters is as funny as any scene in film. If you haven't seen it, rent it.
I really hope that this is where its going because that could be one of the most memorable Wrestlemania matches ever.

Because I remember at one point he taunts a beaten opponet by snapping his finger and immediately going on the defensive.

Yes, like so many comedy midcard gimmicks before him. They all have a very limited shelf life and result in him eventually being sent back to OVW.

I was gonna say the same could be said with Delirious, but he doesn't really stop after the bell rings again.
I kinda wish that WWE and ROH would do joint shows, just so I could see Jesse, Festus and Delirious on a team.
