So when are the new guys (Punk, Burke, Morrison, Jesse, Festus, Londrick etc.) going to wrestle (In a Non-Squash Match) the tried and true veterans(Taker, HBK, Flair etc.) before they retire?
Seriously, the matches that could be made would be awesome and monumental, a sort of passing the torch type of deal.
Personally I really wanna see guys like Punk and Burke go up against these legends at least once before they retire.
Your thoughts?

I agree. I think it'll happen. And the 3 guys you mentioned above would have no problem passing the torch either, especially Taker, he's a straight up class act. I personally wanna see Punk vs. Taker one day. That'd be a huge rub for him and could propel him to that next level in being a top star for the next generation. I say give it another year or two and it'll happen.

This thread reminds me strangely of the many debates that used to go when WCW was still around. How the older generation of Superstars (Hogan, Flair, Savage, Hall, Nash) should pass the torch onto the (then) younger group of up and comers (Billy Kidman, Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Chris Benoit Hardcore Holly)
And we all know how well that worked out for WCW.

The veterans will pass the torch when the "new generation" will be more over.
And the new generation can't really get over as long as the veterans are around, headlining shows and PPVs.
So unless WWE decide to give a Cena-push to some other guys, we're stuck with the Legends.

MVP, Jeff and Matt, Punk, and Kennedy(Well, other than his current feud) have gotten over pretty well, though Kane and Taker did help Kennedy and MVP get heat already. Cody not being is very good news. He can wrestle damn well, but he needs experience.

I don't like the "Passing the torch" idea. Seems to depressing I agree. Just the thought of Taker not wrestling anymore makes me sad, same with HBK. But I guess it has to happen sometime.

The other are at a midcard level, upper midcard at best and haven't really carried a feud yet, at least not a big angle anyway, so they're unproven as "draws" Cody may wrestle well, but he's as generic as he can get
